この場所について Aylestone Meadows

Aylestone Meadows is a large local nature reserve of riverside meadows, canal towpath and playing fields south of Leicester city centre, run by Leicester City Council. It has been named on cruising listing sites, but we found no independent, current source describing gay activity here, so treat any claim with caution. It is a busy public space used by dog walkers, cyclists and families. Same-sex relationships are fully legal in the UK; sex in a public place is not, and can lead to arrest. If you want to meet men, Splash Spa on Bedford Street South and the city-centre gay pubs are the legal, safer options.

Lovely bike ride along the canal away from the city and stopped at the King's Lock Tearooms for a short break.

I walked through Aylestone Meadows on my way from the Hilton in Leicester to the cricket ground at Grace Road. It was a most pleasant walk through a large area of wetlands alongside the Rivers Soar and Biam as well as the Grand Union Canal. It is enjoyed by dog walkers and cyclists and is a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of Leicester city centre.

Love this place. There’s Everards meadows in the south: Loads of space, walk, dogs, nice cafe, a pub and a brewery. Free parking (for 3 hours?), a bike shop and (expensive) bikes to hire. Also opposite huge shopping centre with cafes and free parking Then the rest of Aylestone meadows is huge - cycle path into Leicester city centre (free secure bike park), wildlife (birds, foxes, squirrel, the occasional rabbit and allegedly otters) as well as dogs. Canal with locks and rivers. Kings lock cafe and Aylestone black horse are both recommended. I believe there’s also a football club cafe. E-bikes for hire hourly at the city end which can be refilled across the city (no docks in the south end)

I love visiting out here. So much nature to see, and lots of walking. It’s such a shame when it floods. I can walk through from Narborough Rd to Aylestone in 25 minutes.

Came across this place much by chance, and was impressed with the tranquility of the area. Went for a walk along the River Soar that runs alongside on a lovely sunny day. Very relaxing and just great to forget about the world which is only a stones throw away. The actual park itself is massive and a great place to take a walk through. Good if you have kids as they can run about to their hearts content

Excellent for dog walking. So many different routes to take, great for on or off lead walking. Also the pebble beach is great to let dogs in the water. Could just do with a few more bins around the paths

Hidden behind houses and businesses along Aylestone Road you'll find what is probably Leicester's best kept secret - several acres of parkland, meadows, waterways, a maze of paths, woodland walks, canal towpaths, a huge variety of plant and animal wildlife, including some scarce species. The Meadows includes the Grand Union Canal and Grand Central Way, both of which continue towards the city centre. There are several access points, and car parking - just look out for the signs. Amazing - especially on a sunny day!

Several pathways through the park, with little signage so navigated by the sun! Pleasant environment . Not many seats. Close to Cricket Ground.

These meadows are just around the corner from our home. We are often there walking the towpath along the river or canal. The Kings Lock Cafe along the canal is a great place for a break and a light meal. Beautiful and peaceful place.

We are frequent visitors to the Meadows and have been over many years. Walking through the different seasons gives very different views of both the wildlife and flora. Winter can be a challenge, walking boots needed in some parts. Summer offers plenty of shade on a hot day. Yesterday we set off in search of the elusive Kingfisher, unsuccessful as it happened but we still saw a variety of wildlife, Emperor Dragonflies, Damselflies and numerous types of butterflies. Birdlife included Swans, Moorhen families, Mallards and Coots. I even spotted a Goldcrest foraging amongst the leaf litter, a rare sighting for me!

Lovely bit of green space right in the city! 🌳 Perfect for a peaceful stroll or a bike ride along the canal 🚴‍♀️ — the towpath is great for it. Loads of wildlife to spot if you keep your eyes peeled 🦆, and it's so nice to escape the hustle and bustle without travelling far. Some of the paths get a bit muddy after rain, so wellies are your friend! 🥾 A proper little hidden gem for dog walkers and nature lovers alike. 🐕😊
