The honest summary: Leicester has no gay hotels and no hotel that markets itself to LGBTQ+ guests in particular. It doesn't need one: the gay pubs, club and sauna are all in the city centre, so the best plan is a central hotel within walking distance. These are the places we would pick, by location.
Closest to the bars
- The Grand Hotel Leicester on Granby Street (formerly the Mercure Leicester The Grand) is the big Victorian hotel two minutes from the Dover Castle and five from Rainbow & Dove. Google rates it 4.0 from about 1,100 reviews; the building and location score better than the rooms.
- UR STAY Serviced Apartments are self-catering flats on Charles Street, a couple of minutes from Rainbow & Dove, rated 4.5. They are good for longer stays or friends sharing. Older listings call them Meadow Apartments.
- Premier Inn Leicester City Centre in St Georges Tower is in the Cultural Quarter, about five minutes from Helsinki and the station. It is a standard Premier Inn (4.0 from about 2,000 reviews), and rooms on the ring-road side can be noisy.
- The Belmont Hotel is an independent hotel in Victorian townhouses at the top of New Walk, five minutes from the station and 10–15 minutes from the pubs. It has 4.3 from more than 1,200 reviews.
- St Martins Lodge, beside the cathedral in the old town, is small and the best-reviewed hotel in the centre (4.7). The bars are about ten minutes away, and there is no parking.
- Novotel Leicester at Great Central Place and Holiday Inn Leicester on St Nicholas Circle are on the west side of the centre, 15–20 minutes' walk from Dover Street. The Holiday Inn has its own car park, which helps if you are driving.
- Villare Leicester City Centre Hotel on St Nicholas Place, the former Hotel Maiyango, has a good old-town location but mixed reviews (3.4).
- Pride weekend (late August or early September) is the one time central rooms get tight. Book early once the date is announced at leicesterpride.com.
- Parking is scarce in the centre. Most hotels rely on public car parks.
- Same-sex couples are protected by UK equality law when booking a double room, and in practice this is a non-issue at mainstream Leicester hotels.
Quieter, still walkable

Further out
Winstanley House in Braunstone Park, Castle Hotel in Kirby Muxloe and Premier Inn Leicester (Forest East) are on the western edge of the city or beyond it. They make sense if you are driving or here for an event, but you'll need a taxi to reach the bars. Several budget guest houses around the ring road have low review scores, so read recent reviews before booking.
