A hotel we will definitely return to on our next trip to San Pedro... I would have liked to stay longer, but due to the high season it was difficult to find available dates within our plans. Beautiful rooms, excellent heating, everything we needed was available. Gorgeous architecture. Wonderful service!

An exceptional oasis in San Pedro—with heroic service! Hotel Desertica offers the perfect blend of a prime location, a stellar team, and refined accommodations. Communication via WhatsApp was prompt and invaluable. They recommended reputable tour agencies ahead of time so I could coordinate my itinerary, and they even saved me from a travel disaster. When I accidentally left my passport in the room's safe upon departure, the staff quickly orchestrated a courier to drive it out to the Calama airport (CJC), getting it to me just 30 minutes after I arrived! It cost 90,000 CLP in cash for the driver, which was an incredibly reasonable price to pay to save my onward travel plans. Truly heroic service. Location & Atmosphere Situated right on Caracoles, the vibrant heart of San Pedro de Atacama’s old town, it’s an easy stroll down pedestrian-only streets to fantastic restaurants and tour operators. Despite being on the main strip, it feels secure and peaceful. A solid adobe wall blocks out the street noise, and a large front gate closes at 10 PM nightly (guests are given key access). I stayed in Room 1 near the front, so I occasionally heard voices or suitcases walking past, but nothing a pair of earplugs couldn't fix. Amenities & Comfort The Breakfast: Much more than a standard buffet, featuring a wide range of delicious, made-to-order options in a relaxed, on-site restaurant. The Rooms: The individual, yurt-like rooms are lovely and kept immaculate by attentive, twice-daily housekeeping. They also provide plentiful filtered water, which is an absolute essential in the desert. Constructive Feedback for Winter Travelers I visited in June (winter), and while the room was comfortable, the climate control has a few quirks. There is no A/C (only a fan, which was fine for June), and the heat seemed to only operate in the evenings. One night, I returned late from an astronomy tour to find the room at 16.8°C. It took a long time to warm up and never quite reached the 21°C I had set it to. The only other areas where this property could go from great to outstanding would be improving the tiling/drainage in the shower, and perhaps adding a hot tub or heated pool for those chilly winter months. Overall, a phenomenal stay—highly recommended!

Lunch at Desértica was an experience that combines the essence of the desert with a top-notch culinary offering. The quality of each dish, the warm service, and the manager's constant attention to detail made me feel truly welcome. A place where fine dining is enjoyed in tranquility, with good taste and impeccable service. Without a doubt, a gourmet experience I highly recommend in San Pedro de Atacama.

A huge thank you to the incredibly kind receptionist, Jimena! Because of you, I ended up having dinner here twice. It turned out to be the best food I’ve had in the entire three months I’ve been traveling through South America!
