The Fairmont Winnipeg

Rooms/ common areas are being updated. My room had a few minor issues (tap leaks, worn furniture). Exceptional care from the housekeeper, Darwin! He was friendly and considerate, kept my room well stocked and clean! He anticipated and was proactive (for example, he saw my toothpaste was running low, so left me a little travel tube!) Nice cocktail lounge. Never used the restaurant or the pool/gym.

The worst Fairmont in Canada and possibly, the world. Rooms are outdated, there are constructions noises all the time, elevators are not safe.. But most importantly, the service is unprofessional. Management and housekeeping don’t communicate and the only thing they have in common is that they don’t care about the guests. If you are considering staying in downtown I suggest Mere.

Initially no hot water and loud noises from HVAC unit. Temperature and air felt stuffy. Major respiratory allergies triggered during the stay. Pillows not comfortable . View of construction on hotel. Room was very dated and musty. Front desk and lobby staff were extremely nice. My main issue is with the room.

Rooms are clean and personnel very kind. Pool area well maintained.

Very good experience with the service and amenities

Hotel needs renovations and this is what they are doing. Service is not helpful. If you go Make sure you have a physical credit card with you and you remember the PIN code. Otherwise they won’t have any other option to check you in without a safety deposit. I had an issue and front desk was absolutely unhelpful.

Pleasant Stay in a Great Location Despite Some Signs of Age I recently stayed in Room 1111 at the Fairmont Winnipeg for a four-night business trip. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and appreciated many aspects of the hotel. While there were a few inconveniences, they did not prevent me from having a positive experience. I should mention that I tend to prefer more modern hotels, so some of my comments may reflect that personal preference. The hotel's location is excellent. It is within walking distance of many restaurants, the waterfront, and The Forks, making it a great base for exploring Winnipeg. As an Accor member, I was able to benefit from an early check-in, which was very much appreciated after my travels. My room offered a beautiful, sunny view of the city and was very clean throughout my stay. I appreciated the amenities provided, including a bathrobe, coffee maker, kettle, safe, and drink cooler. One unique touch I appreciated was the wooden room key card, which felt more upscale and environmentally friendly than the traditional plastic cards. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, cotton pads, a shower cap, a shoe mitt, hand soap, and bar soap. The rose-scented products smelled absolutely wonderful and added a nice touch of luxury. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the valet service was attentive and professional. After I shared some feedback with the hotel, they also provided two complimentary bottles of water and a small tube of toothpaste, which was a thoughtful gesture. What impressed me most was the responsiveness of the staff. When I mentioned that the in-room cooler was not cold enough for my needs, the front desk explained that it was intended mainly for beverages and arranged for a real refrigerator. It arrived within about 10 minutes. Likewise, when I explained that the desk chair was too soft and too low for comfortable laptop work, they offered me a more suitable chair. That said, the hotel does show its age in certain areas. The décor feels somewhat dated, which is not necessarily a problem, but I personally prefer a more modern style. The bathroom had a standard bathtub with a shower curtain. There was a ventilation grille on the ceiling, but it did not appear to be functioning, and I could not find any switch to turn it on. I also noticed some pink staining around the bathtub drain that came off easily when I cleaned it with a Lysol wipe, suggesting that area may have been overlooked during cleaning. There were only two closely spaced hooks behind the bathroom door, which made it difficult to hang multiple items. The blackout curtain was slightly damaged and did not close completely, allowing some light into the room. The curtain was also not long enough to fully block light from underneath. This did not affect me too much because I sleep with an eye mask, but those who need complete darkness may notice it. The air conditioning fan was somewhat noisy, although a technician kindly showed me how to reduce the fan speed. Fortunately, I had earplugs with me, which prevented the noise from waking me up throughout the night. During the last few days of my stay, I also noticed a high-pitched plumbing noise when using the shower. Additionally, some paint was peeling in areas of the bathroom. One of the elevator button panels lacked sufficient contrast, making it difficult to see; I noticed several guests hesitating before pressing the buttons, and I experienced the same issue myself. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and found the staff to be responsive, professional, and genuinely interested in guest satisfaction. The excellent location, cleanliness, service, and amenities outweighed the drawbacks. I understand the hotel is expected to undergo renovations in the future, and I think those updates will address many of the issues I encountered. I would gladly stay here again, especially given the outstanding service and prime downtown location.

My wife and I spent May long at Fairmont Gold for an impromptu staycation. We were very pleased and enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious with a great view. The private concierge service and delicious food in the private lounge were nice touches. Gerardo and his team went out of their way to make us feel special. We really appreciated their level of care and attention to detail. Gerardo is outstanding, the hotel is lucky to have him! We look forward to visiting in 2027 once the renovations are complete.

So bad. Not the type of Fairmont I know. Super super outdated. Construction going on. Staff so far have not be very friendly. Online it states a fridge in the room (required due to dietary issues) and there is one but it was not working. They suggested I pay 25$ to get another one. I said that is not right because it is advertised. She asked me to look it up to confirm. I did. She said she could give it to me for free but to email her the screenshot (you can just look it up online). Dusty. Old.

We enjoyed our time at the fairmont , our room was clean and the restaurant in the hotel was a very good breakfast. The elevator wasn’t working on the 17th floor , two separate times I had to use the stairs to the 10th floor and the 16th floor to use the elevator which worked just fine. And on the last day when it was time to check out the 17th worked so I didn’t have to Carry my suitcases down the stairs otherwise it would be a much lower rating. The shower was leaking but not a huge deal nothing to complain about really just something I informed the front staff about. Overall it was a nice stay , the staff was great. The restaurant was great , the room was comfortable. I would stay again. However now that I think about it I was charged twice and as of now one of the deposits was returned and one was not . So I’m out 100$ for no reason so maybe bump that rating down another point . The fairmont is the first hotel I stay at in Winnipeg yet the last one to give the deposit back , when I looked on may 22 it still said you were having 100$ pending . As of may 25th the charge was removed so that’s good however the charge is suppose to be removed after you check out not after you come home from your trip . However after confirming it is not charged on may 25th I guess I will bump you back up to 7.

The concerige on the gold floor I feel taken care of... professional, kind, Gerado and the others.. wait staff personal.... I would not stay anywhere else it was a difficult trip for me as a family member died.

The first room I was given was dusty , a few hair strands in the bed under the covers, and there was a letter waiting for another guest that wasn’t for me. Not a great start. The lovely receptionist helped arrange for me move to another room within 20 minutes. It was a little less dusty but still not as clean and as outdated as I would expect a 4 star fairmont hotel to be. The shower in the new room also made a weird noise. I also Tried to boil some water to make tea and the switch breaker went and all the electricity (tv, light etc) on one side of the room stopped working. Although they fixed it within 10 minutes The staff were all mostly great including the receptionist who helped me move rooms, door staff and handyman, however the entire stay wasn’t and I wouldn’t recommend. The gym was good for a hotel gym. Fairly disappointed with my experience.
