Soberbia is a gay bar on República de Cuba in the Centro Histórico, a street with a cluster of gay bars and cantinas a few blocks from the Zócalo. It's a local, down-to-earth scene, cheaper and less polished than Zona Rosa or Roma, and the crowd is mostly Mexican. We have no confirmed opening hours. The bar posts updates on Facebook, and the Centro bars get busiest from late evening at weekends. The historic centre empties out at night, so use an app taxi rather than walking long distances back to your hotel.

There's a gin and tonic special on Thursdays, the beer is cheap, but I didn't really like the atmosphere.

I no longer recommend it; it's becoming a hotspot for cell phone theft. The times I've been there, there have been several cases of people having their phones and wallets stolen. Everyone is so crowded together that you don't notice.
