The park sits on a rugged stretch of Lake Travis, and the scenery alone is worth the trip. The cliffs, the water, and the wide‑open views make it one of the more striking spots around the lake. The hike down to the shoreline is rocky and uneven, so it’s not the kind of place you wander into by accident — you earn the view a little, which honestly fits the whole atmosphere. When you arrive, the staff makes sure you understand the rules, especially the one about no sexual activity. They’re clear, direct, and they repeat it enough times that you’d think no one could possibly forget. And yet, once you’re inside, you occasionally encounter someone who seems to have the memory retention of a goldfish or the attention span of a distracted squirrel. Thankfully, the vibe of the park is mellow enough that these moments are more eye‑roll than incident. The crowd is a mix of regulars who clearly know the place well and visitors who show up curious or just wanting a quiet spot by the water. The atmosphere is laid‑back, nonjudgmental, and surprisingly calm. Even with the clothing‑optional reputation, it doesn’t feel chaotic or wild; it’s more like a group of people who collectively decided they’re done pretending swimsuits are mandatory. The water access is great once you get down there, and the rocky shoreline gives you plenty of places to set up without feeling crowded. The views across Lake Travis are some of the best you’ll get without renting a boat or owning one of the massive houses perched above the lake. If you’re looking for a typical beach park, this isn’t it. But if you want a quiet, scenic spot with a very specific kind of freedom baked into its identity, Hippy Hollow delivers exactly what it promises.
We love this place! We've been coming here for 20 years. We swim the whole swim line up to 50 times there and back every summer. We are lucky to have this place ❤️ Thank you for this wonderful place!
First time visiting Hippie Hollow. It’s clothing optional, and there’s enough non naked people that you wouldn’t feel weird if you stayed dressed. I got there about 1 and got undressed as soon as I was out of the parking lot. Felt perfectly comfortable walking around the park completely nude. Terrain leading down to the water was rough. My flip flops were sadly inadequate. Next time I am bringing water shoes. The only thing that made me a little uncomfortable was the restrooms. There were no doors at all on the stalls. Walking around all day nude didn’t bother me, but I would have preferred a stall door for taking a #2 and wiping off afterward. Nobody in the restroom said or did anything inappropriate, but just not having a door was strange. Other than that, I had a great experience.
Very few people there. Difficult to get down to the water. A few cabins and/or camping spots would be great. Very few nice places to lay down and relax.
We first visited in the late 70's. Just a gravel parking lot and dirt trails cut through the trees to the shoreline. Hippies supposedly lived in cars there at one time. Back way then, a guy was arrested for sunning naked on the rocky shoreline. He fought the charge and won. Merely being nude was not illegal at Hippy Hollow, making it the only, legal public nude beach in Texas. Nowadays, the parking lot is paved, there are paved trails and stairs, handicap access, and bathrooms with running water. Mostly everybody is nude. Fairly obvious police presence to discourage disorderly (drunk) or lewd conduct. Totally laid back, awesome place to visit. Lake Travis is one of the clearest lakes in Texas, and it is a joy to swim there. Lake Travis is a variable level, flood control lake. Over the years we've seen the level at a low of 650s asl and 710 or so. The photo shown is the lake mostly full, or full. We lived 150 yards down from the park for 8 years. Been there many, many times. No camping or food. Toilets yes.
Hippo Hollow was an amazing, awesome getaway for open minded adults (couples). Myself & my girlfriend met a couple who was also into the lifestyle. We enjoyed laying on the lakes shore and swimming in the water. Beautiful relaxing area.
First and foremost; this is not a Nude Resort - it is a county park where nudity is allowed. There are rules for acceptable behavior but unfortunately enforcement rests upon complaints (after the fact) and not deterrence. There are no Life Guards - sometimes the only park employees you will encounter are at the entry where they collect $8 per person for entry, cash only. If you are a Nudist who is accustomed to the structure of a Nude Resort, you will definitely notice the difference. Unlike a Nude Resort, expect fully clothed Men to be in the park, lurking and observing. Personal space is at times not respected by nude Men who cruise the shoreline - often walking in close proximity or even stepping over people - the lake is very low exposing a large, very rocky shoreline - plenty of room to respect others, no excuse for such behavior. The park is nice for nude sunbathing and swimming - the lake cools and warms with the seasons. Be prepared to hike down through rocks to reach the lake. The park facilities are acceptable - a nice paved path through the park with various trails down to the lake. We live in close proximity - on occasions we've chosen to go to Barton Springs or Deep Eddy instead of HH - although not nude, topless sunbathing is allowed at Barton and Deep Eddy. Additionally, Life Guards and others in position of authority do not tolerate unacceptable behavior - the rules are enforced to protect the pools.
The best place in Texas to spend time with like-minded adults free from clothes and judgment. Everyone is courteous and most participate nude. Even the rangers who patrol the lake are friendly. Plenty of space to sit on the rocks but finding one to lay down in the shade is hard. Some bring their tents for shade. Parking is usually full on holiday weekends so come early or late. Bring sturdy shoes to walk down to the lake as rocks are uneven and something under your towel for cushion. The area where the party boats gather near stairs #1 tend to be the most crowded and fun :)
Hippy Hollow is honestly such a wonderful place for the free spirited to enjoy! I’ve never felt odd or out of place there. Lots of college aged kids there!
This is a nude "beach" on Lake Travis. Only adults, 18+ are allowed. You pay for parking at the top of the ridge, and you walk down a path to the near the lakefront. The shoreline is all rocks. Getting down to the shoreline does require some agility. If you are not active or mobile, you will have difficulties moving down the "beach" as the cliff has large rocks which you will need to be able to both descend and climb. The waterfront is all broken rocks, not weather worn smooth. We went on a weekday, and few people were there, and mostly spread out. You can have your privacy. This is not the place to get your kicks people watching. People come for the relaxation of nude sunbathing or skinny dipping.
Not sure why this place can't check Google Maps and update it whenever they change the hours. Insanely frustrating and makes a lot of people miserable. Creating a lot of bad karma for themselves...
Great place to sunbathe and be naked. A little rocky and a lot more dudes but that's how it is at any nude beach lol. Oh and watch out for fish nipping at your bits in the water!
Well my friend and I went to this hidden Gem. Many to understand more of the history and hyped talk. So I was fully clothed and just cautious of my surroundings. First time not thinking of anything negative but definitely had stares of look. Now I understand you come to connect but I believe it’s my Jam. Great spot however it’s definitely not my Jam.
Beautiful, quiet! was there on a Tuesday first thing in the AM when they opened. then the sun came out full force and fried us (hah!) Did not go into the water as there some kind of thing going on with the dams and contamination (according to news)....boats weren't even allowed on the water...but that's nothing to do with the park.
Such a serene amd special place.

Just like Mallora or Croatia - Mediterranean flair))
What a fun and freeing experience. Nothing better than the sun on ALL of your skin. Awkward? Not at all. Plenty of conversations with people, just like you might have waiting in line at the grocery store .. just without clothes on. And Bonus— people look you in yours eyes when they talk to you! That doesn’t happen much in the real world. 10/10. Will be back. Do recommend.
Love this place! I come here for 20 years, this is the best place to swim.
Margo was so sweet, and very informative. Such a peaceful place! You must have cash!
Visited for the first time. Very peaceful. Just make sure you bring a towel and bug spray.
Beautiful park on a beautiful stretch of Lake Travis. Be aware its a decent walk from parking to area shore sites so dont carry too much crap. Its al
Very nice but do bring some good shoes to climb up and down
Anthony was amazing!!! The food was very well made and the price was amazing, definitely coming back for sure.
Very pretty it is a hike so bring good shoes! Safe enough to go as a single woman
My first outdoors nudist experience. As soon I got out of the parking lot, I got nude. I enjoyed walking amongst other nude people. There were a few dressed guys who were obviously there to gawk. I walked the paved walkway a few times. Once the excitement of being naked indiscriminately wore off, I was ready to go after a few hours. Mainly because of the rocky terrain, and I was alone. It is so hard to get anywhere when you want to get close to the water. They have railings with rock steps, but that only gets you half way down. The rest of the way down to the water is treacherous at best. I nearly fell several times. It's VERY dangerous. I can only imagine what it's like for drunk people to try to navigate the terrain. Swimming sucks because of the difficulty of getting in, around, and out of the water. I'm 38, very fit, and have been working out for years, so I'm not some frail old man trying to get down to the water. If this place didn't have the clothing optional aspect, I seriously doubt anybody would go there. Will I go back? Probably not.
Beautiful and unforgettable
