この場所について TransPonder

TransPonder is Eugene's trans and gender-diverse support nonprofit. Its own base is the Maxwell Community Hub at 440 Maxwell Rd, in north Eugene, and it also runs groups from The Lavender Network on Willamette Street. Its regular calendar includes a weekly food program, gender-diverse yoga, a book club, a youth employment cohort and support groups for trans people and their parents. In August it holds a Starry Night Pride Prom. For visitors, the community calendar at transponder.community is the best way to find a group. Most sessions are free, and some are only for members of the trans community.

TransPonder in Eugene, Oregon is more than just a nonprofit — it’s a heartbeat in the community. Even as an ally, I’ve never seen a space so fully devoted to uplifting, affirming, and caring for trans and LGBTQIA+ lives. They do so much good under one roof, it’s hard to even summarize — but every single thing they do is grounded in compassion, inclusion, and real-life impact. From gender-affirming clothing donations to store vouchers for those experiencing dysphoria, they help people feel more at home in their own bodies. They offer food pantry support, youth programs, and inclusive events that are open to everyone — not just the LGBTQ+ community, but allies and families too. They also provide direct assistance with HRT (hormone replacement therapy), access to PrEP, and HIV-related health studies — all handled with care, knowledge, and zero judgment. They help people get set up with OHP (Oregon Health Plan), guide them through casework, and walk them through tough life transitions with clarity and support. What really makes TransPonder stand out is their atmosphere: welcoming, warm, and deeply human. If someone’s going through a rough patch in their journey — questioning their identity, struggling with confidence, or just needing a reminder that they’re not alone — this place doesn’t just offer resources, it offers hope. They greet you with smiles and kindness, no matter who you are or where you’re coming from. They also partner with and house the Lavender Program, which provides even more support, including targeted mental health and peer-based programming. Together, TransPonder and the Lavender Program form a deeply connected, truly affirming support network that makes a massive difference in the lives of so many. There are more services than I could list, but know this: if you or someone you love needs community, care, or even just a moment of peace in a storm — TransPonder is here, and they will show up for you. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough. Eugene is incredibly lucky to have this place — and honestly, the world needs more places like it.
