Polo Beach is a remote stretch of sand near Mokulēʻia on Oʻahu's North Shore, west of Haleʻiwa and about an hour's drive from Waikīkī. Backed by ironwood trees and rarely crowded, it has a long-standing reputation as a clothing-optional beach that is popular with gay men. There are no facilities: bring water, food and shade, and don't leave valuables visible in the car. Nudity is technically illegal on Hawaiʻi beaches, so keep it discreet and be ready to cover up. For an in-town gay beach, Queen's Surf in Waikīkī is the main gathering spot.

This is Oahu‘s gay beach or clothing optional. It’s beautiful over there. It can get a little windy, but it’s a great place to just let it all hang out with all your friends and sometimes the views are pretty nice besides the location in the ocean.

Such an amazing beach — honestly one of the most freeing experiences ever. It has that open, relaxed, totally liberating vibe where you can just be yourself, even if you prefer to go clothing-optional. What I really appreciated is that it didn’t feel weird or creepy at all; everyone kept to themselves, respected the space, and the atmosphere felt safe and comfortable. The beach itself is beautiful, with soft sand, gorgeous water, and even the surprise of cute horses passing by, which just adds to the charm and uniqueness of the spot. The whole place has this peaceful, natural energy that makes you want to stay for hours. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a laid-back, freeing, and genuinely good-vibe beach experience. A hidden gem!
