The staff is amazing but rooms and elevators need serious improvements!
This is a very conveniently located hotel in a decent neighborhood to walk everywhere in the French quarter. If your travel plans include leaving the French quarter you would need to plan on using a trolly or public transit or other ride share options. The pool area is very nice and the pool appears to be well kept, although unheated. The staff are very friendly especially the young lady that works the front desk In the morning and the elderly lady that runs the breakfast in the attached bar, she is the sweetest! The rooms are clean and comfortable, the beds are very soft and the pillows are very comfortable. but as mentioned in a few other reviews there is a bit of a mildew smell when you first arrive. We have had no issues with the ac/heat if anything it gets too cold! We have also found if we leave the ac on when we leave for the day that there is no smell when we return. The bathroom toilet is a little strange but nothing of concern in my opinion. I would suggest the addition of a continental breakfast or some type of morning offerings besides coffee and a microwave in the room Would be a nice addition. Overall a nice hotel for a reasonable price in a good location, we would stay here again!
Rooms were not as nice as in the pictures.
Overall, we had a positive stay. The hotel is very well located for exploring the French Quarter, our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The pool was also perfect for a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing. Service was a little inconsistent. We had an issue with the valet attendant on arrival, which the hotel did resolve, and housekeeping standards seemed to vary from day to day. Pool towels also didn’t appear to be replenished regularly. That said, the receptionist who checked us in was lovely, and the other valet attendants were friendly and helpful. We stayed on the top floor, where the corridor was noticeably warmer and stuffier than on other floors, which was a little uncomfortable. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed our stay and found the hotel a great base for exploring New Orleans.
We stayed at the Hotel in New Orleans for three nights in Room 324. While the location is excellent, unfortunately, the quality of the hotel was very disappointing. The location in the French Quarter is probably the best thing about this hotel. It is right in the middle of everything, making it extremely convenient to walk to restaurants, shops, tours, and other attractions. The history of the hotel is also interesting. My mom and I are both very sensitive to ghost and spirit activity, and we experienced a lot of activity at other places during our trip, but we personally did not experience anything particularly haunted during our stay here. Unfortunately, the condition of Room 324 is what led me to give this hotel one star. During our three day stay, New Orleans had a lot of rain, and our room had a major leak around the window. My bed was right next to the window, and rain continued leaking onto the carpet throughout our entire stay. The carpet became completely soaked, and anytime I was near the window, my feet would get wet. It was honestly very unpleasant and felt like a major maintenance issue that should have been addressed. The window also did not open, and there were interior shutters over the window. Only one of the shutters could be opened, while the other was nailed shut, just like the window. It made the room feel very closed off. The shower was another major issue. There was no slip mat, and I almost fell several times just trying to get into the shower. The shower controls were also extremely difficult to operate. They felt broken and were very difficult to turn on and off. This definitely needs maintenance because it did not feel safe or functional. Our AC worked perfectly on the first day, and the room was comfortable. However, on the second and third days, the AC completely stopped working. The screen turned black, and the temperature was stuck at 68 degrees. The room became extremely cold, especially at night. We asked for extra blankets because the AC was broken, but we were told they were short staffed and did not have housekeeping or concierge staff available. That was very disappointing, especially when we were already dealing with a room that had several maintenance issues. We also tried the $10 breakfast, and unfortunately, we did not think it was worth the price. The quality was not very good, and we would have been much better off walking into the French Quarter and finding somewhere else to eat. The breakfast staff also weren’t particularly friendly. The front desk staff were the exception. They were very nice and helpful whenever we interacted with them. Overall, the location is fantastic, and the history of the hotel is interesting, but Room 324 had too many maintenance issues for us to feel comfortable recommending this hotel. Between the leaking window, soaked carpet, unsafe shower, broken AC, and lack of available staff to help with these issues, we would not stay here again. The location is convenient, but for us, it wasn’t worth sacrificing the quality and comfort of the room.
I've never been a room without a chair/ chairs. Had to sit on bed to eat. The air conditioner is horrible because it's hot and humid in this room. The rooms are also dimly lit making it look dark.
