The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa

Fantastic for viewing the Pacific ocean with a nice beverage.

I stayed at The Seabird for one night on October 3, 2026, and while the room itself was nice, the check-in experience left a very negative first impression. At check-in, I was waiting in line with a large stroller full of luggage, so I was not exactly easy to miss. There were three employees working at reception. Kaylen was assisting guests in the general check-in area, and when she finished with one guest, I waited for her to call me up. Instead, another woman walked up to the counter and cut in front of me. I had already been waiting for at least five minutes. Kaylen did not acknowledge that I was next or ask the woman to wait. I initially let it go because the woman was pregnant. After Kaylen finished helping her, I again waited for Kaylen to call me up. Instead, she looked up and said, “Next guest in line,” and then looked toward the guests behind me as though I wasn't standing directly in front of her. At that point, I had been waiting close to 10 minutes. There were only a few people in the area, and I was standing there with a large stroller, so it was difficult to understand how I was overlooked twice. The entire interaction was frustrating and left a bitter taste in my mouth, particularly because I have stayed at numerous Hyatt properties and have never experienced anything like this. Kaylen needs additional training on properly managing the order of guests in line, as well as greater awareness of the guests she is assisting. There was also an issue with the room keys. I booked two rooms and was given two key cards for each room. However, for each room, only one of the two key cards actually worked. This was another frustrating issue that should have been caught before handing the keys to a guest. On a more positive note, the king room with partial ocean view was nice. There was a concert happening across the street that evening, but the room was well soundproofed. We couldn't hear the concert from inside the room unless the balcony door was open, which I really appreciated. One thing the hotel should look into is the room's electrical outlets. I'm not sure what the wattage or electrical limitations were, but I plugged in my Beachwaver curling iron and it would not turn on and kept making error beeps. I initially thought the curling iron had broken, but when I got home to LA and plugged it into my outlets, it worked normally. Overall, the room itself was pleasant, but the check-in experience and multiple issues upon arrival significantly impacted my stay. For a Hyatt property at this price point, I expected a much more attentive and seamless arrival experience.

Had an amazing stay at The Seabird Resort! The location was fantastic, and everything felt clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It was easy to relax and enjoy my time there. I loved the atmosphere and would happily return. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Beds are brutally bad and they don’t even let you close the curtains completely as if it’s some cheap motel 8 off the highway in the Midwest. Even though your room faces the pool area. And even though they leave all the lights on around the pool on at night. It’s like trying to sleep with the light being left on in the next room.

Front desk attendant treated us like royalty. Balcony was dirty and seagull poop looked to be there for a while. 1 of Elevators went out and this is the second time.

Great hotel and amenities. Restaurants are really nice ! Etiola, at the front is so kind and helpful! Highly re recommend the hotel !

Beautiful lobby, I have stayed there twice, once this weekend and last year this same time. There was definitely more attention to detailed last year. The room we stayed in last year was beautiful spacious and clean! This year it was smaller which would have been fine but the bench in front of the bed was stained and the grout was dirty. The building itself needs a good pressure wash on the outside. The same attention to detail in the front and lobby area really needs to be given to the rest of the building. The pool cushions were molded. The drinks in the resturants downstairs were great the ones upstairs in the pool area were not drinkable.

Beautiful area with lots of close shops and restaurants within walking distance. The beach was nice and the chairs, towels and umbrellas that they set up for you was a great added touch. Customer service was great. The pool and food service poolside was wonderful. Overall it was a good experience, and the only thing affecting my rating were the beds. The absolute worst beds I’ve ever slept on. Hard, lumpy, and extremely uncomfortable. Tossed and turned- could not get comfortable. I switched to the other bed and it was just as bad. The floor would have been a better option. For nearly $1,000 USD per night they can afford to replace the beds and have something better. If I had read the reviews before we booked and I had seen the many other reviews and comments about how bad the beds are, I would have booked elsewhere. The beds are so incredibly bad, that they outweigh all the good there is about this resort. Very disappointed to have spent that kind of money on a resort that would have other wise been a 5 star for sure were it not for the beds. Did I mention that the beds are horrible? Okay, then. You’ve been duly warned!

It has taken a year for me to post this (life has been a lot)but better late than never...Great Property to Stay!! A peaceful, healing retreat during a difficult time. As a California native who grew up visiting Oceanside, it had been years since I last returned. Sadly, we were in town for my father-in-law’s funeral, and we decided to spend a few nights away from everyone to collect our thoughts, process our feelings, and quietly go through the motions of this wonderful man's passing. The Seabird Resort ended up being the exact peaceful sanctuary we needed. The management and staff went completely above and beyond, showing us incredible kindness and making sure we had everything we needed. The timeless, breezy coastal design and stunning ocean views provided such a comforting, healing backdrop for us. The property is beautiful and clean, but more importantly, it offered the quiet space and top-notch comfort required to reset after long, emotionally exhausting days. Returning to Oceanside after so long was bittersweet, but the exceptional warmth of the team and the serene environment helped us find a moment of calm amidst the grief. We are incredibly grateful for our stay here.

Absolutely stunning! The Seabird Ocean Resort in Oceanside is one of those places that makes you stop and take it all in. From the moment you arrive, the property is beautiful, welcoming, and full of those little details that make a stay feel special. The location is PERFECT. Right on the water, with easy access to its sister property, and within walking distance of so many shops, restaurants, and things to do. The Amtrak station is just about a block away, which makes getting there incredibly convenient. The street leading to the hotel is lined with fun shops and eateries, and one of my favorite little finds was the Top Gun House — now a super fun ice cream shop! Definitely worth a stop. The resort itself is absolutely gorgeous. From the lobby and front desk to the beautiful décor, elevators, and even the attention to detail throughout the hallways, everything feels thoughtfully designed. Each floor has its own beach-inspired vibe, yet they’re all decorated a little differently, which makes exploring the property fun. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have beautiful views of the water. But honestly, the lobby might be one of my favorite parts. There are so many inviting spaces to sit and relax — from cozy corners to a beautiful fireplace area and even a large table perfect for gathering with family or friends. And don’t skip the spa! It is HEAVENLY. Truly the perfect place to relax and unwind. I also recommend wandering upstairs to check out the library. It’s such a charming little space and another example of the thoughtful touches throughout the resort. Overall, The Seabird is beautiful, relaxing, perfectly located, and has such a wonderful coastal atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family stay, or simply a beautiful place to relax by the ocean, this is definitely a place I would recommend.
