The Great Dane

The Great Dane is a bar at 8 Main Road, Melville. It moved here from Braamfontein in August 2025. It isn't a gay bar, but In Your Pocket's 2026 queer guides and Rainbow Tour Guides both list it as popular with the queer crowd, especially on Saturdays. Google has only a handful of reviews for the new address so far, so we can't say much about the room itself. It's a short drive from Ratz and Liquid Blue on 7th Street, and people often combine the three. Check the bar's Instagram for the current line-up before you go.
