Haka House Queenstown Lakefront

I recommend the lake view room with a balcony. The view is fantastic, and the room is comfortable and clean!

Haka House is incredibly convenient, and waking up to the stunning scenery right outside was a massive highlight. However, there were a couple of downsides to our stay. Parking comes at an extra fee, and when we checked in on a very cold night, we walked into an icy room. The small heater provided took a really long time to warm up the space. Overall, it's a wonderfully situated spot with beautiful views, just have to put up with the cold 🥶

Haka House Queenstown is a great spot to stay while exploring the area, and the view of the lake from the property is a fantastic bonus. For those driving, they offer paid parking on-site, or you can find space to park on the side of the road nearby.

Stayed 5 nights right in front of the lake with beautiful views. It’s a short walk to the shops and restaurants, and the bus stop is right outside for easy access to the city centre and airport. The rooms and kitchen area were clean, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful when needed. The only thing I found a bit different was that it lacked the usual hostel vibe where people talk and meet new people maybe that’s just how things are nowadays with phones and everyone keeping to themselves. If you’re a solo adult traveller, though, it could actually be a good thing because it’s peaceful, with no loud drunk or party crowd. I personally liked that it was away from the busy areas and had a calmer atmosphere. One thing to note is that the top bunk beds are very noisy even with slight movement, while the bottom bunks are much better. Overall, most of the Asian guests were respectful and quiet.

We had a chance to spend one night of our honeymoon at this awesome place. We loved the atmosphere, the facilities and all the services offered. Huge clean kitchen with all you might need, great rooms (we got a free upgrade 🫶🏼), laundry, quick check-in, all on a walking distance from the center and literally in front of the lake. We just loved it

Stayed at Haka House Lakefront in one of their 4-bed dorms, for 4 nights. For a backpackers, there were plenty of staff on ground who were super friendly and responsive. The communal kitchen has got basically everything you need to cook - just get your groceries and make a nice meal - there are plenty of gas cook stations available too. Parking on site is paid ($15/night) and is available on FCFS basis (what I was told). If you have a car, it is a no brainer to pay for parking as if you’re going out to town, it is only about 600m away and you don’t have to worry about driving to the city. The only con - the beds in my room were very noisy - any small movement made a squeaky noise, which made it hard to sleep peacefully. Nonetheless, the rooms, en-suite bathroom, common toilets and showers were spotless. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cosy hostel with clean rooms and a functional kitchen.

Always love coming to Queenstown and saying here from the service till the room's are always on point and I'll definitely stay here if you get the chance

A great hostel, clean and tidy, with nice staff, quiet rooms, and no noisy people. It also has a drying room, pool table, and movie room. The kitchen is available for cooking. The downsides are that some bathrooms don't have shampoo, and laundry is a bit expensive at $4 per wash.

Pros: The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. It features large windows with plenty of natural light and offers a stunning, direct view of the lake. Cons: The cleanliness of the bedding needs improvement. Both nights I stayed here, I found several strands of hair inside the folded duvet as soon as I opened it. Compared to other hostels I’ve stayed at in New Zealand over the past two weeks, this one seems to host more teenagers. As a result, there was quite a bit of noise and rowdy behavior, though this might have just been due to the specific group staying at the time.

Superb hostel, one of the best I've ever stayed in! The price is higher, but the lakeside location is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the city center. The facilities are new, and everything is clean. The kitchen is truly enormous, with lots of equipment! The only slight downside was the temperamental shower, but otherwise, nothing to complain about, it was great, and the staff are absolutely lovely! Thank you!

So here we were entering the infamous haka house. It all went well, check in was smooth. But… as we walked up the stairs, someone had absolutely diabolically annihilated the level 2 toilets. The stench was sooo bad, I thought this was going to be it. It was so infectious, the radiation spread and actually made me feel sick. However, upon walking up the stairs level 3 was very fresh. The level 3 was unaffected by catastrophic bomb of a turd that someone left as they departed the haka house. The shower, INCREDIBLE SHOWER. One of the the best showers, I liked it. Room was very clean. Ventilation was great, we checked. Hidden room if you are smart enough. Overall best hostel ever

Good stay overall, but the rooms were quite noisy. The heavy doors make a very loud slamming sound every time they close, which woke me up several times.
