Aki Takase
Aki Takase was born in Osaka and studied music in Tokyo, Japan. From 1978, she performed and recorded in the USA and Japan with Lester Bowie, Joe Henderson, Miroslav Vitous, John Zorn, and others. In 1981, she gave her first European concert at Jazzfest Berlin. From 1989, she played in and led the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra together with Alex von Schlippenbach, continued performing worldwide, and took part in recordings with Maria João, David Murray, N.H.Ø. Pedersen, Rudi Mahall, Louis Sclavis, Nils Wogram, Han Bennink, Silke Eberhard, Daniel Erdmann, and more. She was awarded the Berliner Zeitung Critics’ Prize in 1999 and the SWR Jazz Prize in 2002. In 2004, “Aki Takase Plays Fats Waller” received the German Record Critics’ Award (Annual Prize). In 2018, she was awarded the Jazzpreis Berlin, and in 2021 the German Jazz Prize (Piano and Keyboard Instruments). Aki Takase received the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize in 2021. In 2026, she was awarded the German Jazz Prize for Lifetime Achievement.
Silke Eberhard
For many years, saxophonist and composer Silke Eberhard has been active in the Berlin jazz scene and performs internationally. Concerts have taken her to every continent except Antarctica. In 2020, she received the Jazzpreis Berlin. She works in a range of different formations. Together with Jan Roder and Kay Lübke, she founded the Silke Eberhard Trio in 2006. Her ensemble Potsa Lotsa grew into a ten-piece “XL” lineup. She is also active in various collectively run ensembles, including Matsch & Schnee and I Am Three. She performs and records with musicians from the international jazz scene, including Henry Threadgill & Zooid, Aki Takase, Dave Burrell, Dave Liebman, Sandy Evans, Nikolaus Neuser, Maggie Nicols, Hannes Zerbe, Mike Reed, Wayne Horvitz, and Talibam! (Matt Mottel and Kevin Shea). Her work is documented on around 50 album releases (CD and LP), on labels including Intakt, Jazzwerkstatt, Leo Records, ESP-Disk, Not Two, Intuition, Trouble in the East Records, Relative Pitch, 577 Records, Aerophonic, Rufus, and fixcel.

Ab 1989 spielte und leitete sie gemeinsam mit Alex von Schlippenbach das Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, gab weiterhin weltweit Konzerte und beteiligte sich an Aufnahmen mit Maria João, David Murray, N.H.Ø. Pedersen, Rudi Mahall, Louis Sclavis, Nils Wogram, Han Bennink, Silke Eberhard, Daniel Erdmann und mehr. Sie wurde 1999 mit dem Kritikerpreis der Berliner Zeitung und 2002 mit dem SWR-Jazzpreis ausgezeichnet. „Aki Takase Plays Fats Waller” wurde 2004 mit dem Jahrespreis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik ausgezeichnet. 2018 wurde ihr der Jazzpreis Berlin zuerkannt, und 2021 der Deutsche Jazzpreis (Piano und Tasteninstrumente). Aki Takase erhielt 2021 den Albert-Mangelsdorff-Preis. 2026 wurde ihr der Deutsche Jazzpreis für ihr Lebenswerk verliehen.
Silke Eberhard
Seit vielen Jahren ist die Saxophonistin und Komponistin Silke Eberhard in der Berliner Jazzszene aktiv und tritt international auf. Konzerte führten sie auf alle Kontinente mit Ausnahme der Antarktis. Im Jahr 2020 erhielt sie den Jazzpreis Berlin. Sie arbeitet in unterschiedlichen Formationen. Gemeinsam mit Jan Roder und Kay Lübke gründete sie 2006 das Silke Eberhard Trio. Ihr Ensemble Potsa Lotsa entwickelte sich zu einer zehnköpfigen „XL”-Besetzung. Darüber hinaus ist sie in verschiedenen kollektiv arbeitenden Ensembles tätig, darunter Matsch & Schnee und I Am Three. Sie konzertiert und veröffentlicht mit Musiker:innen der internationalen Jazzszene, darunter Henry Threadgill & Zooid, Aki Takase, Dave Burrell, Dave Liebman, Sandy Evans, Nikolaus Neuser, Maggie Nicols, Hannes Zerbe, Mike Reed, Wayne Horvitz sowie Talibam! (Matt Mottel und Kevin Shea). Ihre Arbeit ist auf rund 50 Albumveröffentlichungen (CD und LP) dokumentiert.
