Wallanlagen (Katzenberg) Cruising

The Wallanlagen are Lübeck's ring of green ramparts around the Altstadt island, and the stretch known as the Katzenberg — the wooded slope near the Wallstraße and the open-air stage (Freilichtbühne), between the Puppenbrücke and the harbour — is the city's long-standing outdoor gay cruising spot. It appears in German cruising references (gay.de and others) rather than as a "secret", and activity is heaviest on warm evenings and after dark. Germany has strong legal protections for LGBTQ+ people, but cruising here happens in a public park: be discreet, respect other park users, keep to consenting encounters, and stay aware of your surroundings at night. Reports of activity have thinned in recent years, so treat it as historically established rather than guaranteed busy.
