Limanakia Beach

Limanakia is a string of rocky coves on the Athens Riviera between Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, and for decades it has been the city's best-known informal gay swimming spot. There is no sand: people sunbathe on rock ledges and climb down to deep, clear water. Nudity is common in parts of the coves. Coastal buses stop on the road above, at the stop named Limanakia, and a path leads down the cliff. Wear proper shoes, as the descent is rough. A small seasonal snack bar has operated on the rocks, but bring water and shade. Weekends in summer are busiest, and the crowd is mixed gay and local.
