Issos Beach

Issos is a long, dune-backed sandy beach on Corfu's quieter southwest coast near Lefkimmi, about a 45-minute drive from Corfu Town. Its northern end, together with the adjacent Halikounas dunes between the beach and Lake Korission, is cited in gay travel guides as a gay-frequented nudist area. The expanse of sand and dunes gives it a remote, get-away-from-it-all character quite different from the island's busier resort beaches. Facilities are minimal, the wind can be strong (this stretch is popular with kitesurfers) and the gay-frequented zone is informal rather than an organised scene, so it is best treated as a secluded day-beach: bring supplies, respect the protected Korission lagoon environment, and visit in daylight.
