Muccassassina w Qube (miejsce)

Muccassassina ("Killer Cow") is Rome's legendary weekly gay-and-lesbian club night, running since 20 November 1991 and — by continuous weekly programming — the longest-running gay club night in Italy. It was founded as a Circolo Mario Mieli fundraiser and remains a Circolo-organised event; ticket proceeds fund the Circolo's political and HIV/AIDS work. Muccassassina's significance is scale. In its 34-year run it has moved through six different Rome venues (currently at Qube, a converted industrial space in Portonaccio) but the Friday-night weekly schedule has never lapsed. Peak-attendance nights routinely draw 3,000+; the annual November anniversary parties draw 5,000+ and are the highest-attendance regular queer nightlife event in Italy. The party's cultural role extends past nightlife. Muccassassina's programming — three separate dance floors typically running house, pop, and Italian-language club — provided the earliest Roman mainstream venue for drag performance (from 1993), for trans-inclusive nightlife (from 1996), and for openly HIV-positive politically-visible programming (from the peak-AIDS years of the mid-1990s). Circolo Mario Mieli's fundraising through Muccassassina is estimated in high six figures cumulatively. Open Fridays only, from 23:30 to 04:30. Entry €12-18 depending on programme. Portonaccio train station is a five-minute walk. Not a mainstream tourist stop — the point of visiting is the specific Friday-night atmosphere and the awareness of continuous historical operation. Muccassassina is one of the two European weekly gay-club nights with a comparable historical continuity (the other being Berlin's Cocktail d'Amore, from 2009).
