Fantastic spa and lovely staff
My experience was limited to the lobby and Harris Bar, where I attended a four-story exhibition of paintings and photographs. It made an excellent impression, and the period furnishings make it attractive for high-end tourism.
From July 15th to 19th, 2026, our group of seven stayed in single rooms at the hotel's annex. The rooms are well-furnished, and the hotel's location is excellent. However, the situation in the breakfast room is not commensurate with the hotel's standard and price. The service seems overwhelmed, despite their best efforts. Items are frequently missing from the breakfast buffet and are only replenished very late. An extremely negative aspect was the situation at the beautiful hotel bar and its terrace overlooking the famous Unity Square. The bar staff, especially in the evenings, are unfriendly and dismissive. As guests, we were informed that the bar supposedly closes at 10:00 PM and therefore nothing can be served. This contradicts the hotel's advertising, which states that the hotel is open until midnight. Upon specific inquiry, we were told that the bar is open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. However, during our visits on Friday and Saturday, we guests were told early in the evening that the hotel was closed. Only after emphatically pointing out that the hotel's information contradicted this did we receive reluctant service. One waiter even told us he was tired and therefore didn't really want to work anymore. This is unacceptable for a luxury hotel of this kind. Clearly, the hotel management is unable to properly direct the service staff. This situation is all the more regrettable given the beautiful location of the hotel and its terrace. As a guest, and especially as a hotel guest, one is made to feel unwelcome. Very regrettable.
Stayed here a week ago for two nights. The location is fantastic, the building is beautiful, and the hotel should be a no-brainer 9/10 or 10/10, but it's an 8/10, and not sure it's really a five star hotel, rather a 4.5. Anyway, things they should work on: the entrance door is not very impressive, simple door handle that you open yourself, rather than an automatic revolving or sliding door. No doorman (which in itself is no problem, but that would have fixed the impression you get when you enter). The spa is very nice, but also very small, and they were out of drinking water (which is an issue as you need to drink a lot after sauna/hammam). I pointed this out and the response was somewhat confused. Another issue is that there's no gym at all, not even a small fitness room. Breakfast is nice, but omelettes, scrambled eggs etc are not made to order for free, as in many/most five-star hotels, so you have to pay extra for that. So in general, great location, lots of potential, but some things they should work on. Hope this is helpful.
Great stay in Trieste at this lovely hotel. The location is excellent and the staff and service first class.
