Arken Hotel & Art Garden Spa

Went to the spa with the kids. Usually come here. Dissatisfied this time as it was misleading on the booking. Thought they always had brunch on the weekends. But this time it was lunch. Was therefore a little disappointed.

Best place. Always the same every time you visit Arken. Warm welcome and an oasis for body and soul.

We are very satisfied with Arken Hotel & Art Garden Spa as a spa hotel and location. The spa area is tastefully decorated and offers a wide variety of saunas with different temperatures and aromas, hot and cold experiences as well as outdoor pools and nice places to relax. The entire hotel and spa area feel well thought out and tastefully decorated. What unfortunately drags down the overall experience is the food. The breakfast has a wide selection, but the quality is surprisingly low. We tried most of it and I have a hard time understanding how so many dishes can be so tasteless. The bacon tasted almost like paper and the bread was like rubber. It shouldn't be difficult to serve a normal, good breakfast that actually tastes good. We also had a three-course dinner. The starter was good, but the main course was bland. The duck was served with a sauce that was mostly reminiscent of a regular brown sauce for meatballs and didn't lift the dish at all. This could have been done so much better. The dessert was okay. The frustrating thing is that it probably doesn't take much to significantly improve the dining experience. A spa hotel of this level should regularly sample and assess the quality of what is actually served to guests. Considering what it costs to stay here, the hotel really needs to pull itself together and improve the quality of the food. Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to spend money on the restaurant again right now, which feels very sad because the rest of the experience is so good. I really hope that Arken takes the criticism into account and improves the quality. If the food changes, we will be happy to return and give the restaurant another chance. If it turns out that the dining experience has improved, I will of course change my review and my rating. As a spa, hotel and location, we are very satisfied. Arken has a lot that is really good. If they get the food in order, this could be a truly fantastic overall experience.

A good spa experience. Nice with a large outdoor area to find your own place. The lunch after the spa was very good and luxurious.

Wow. Great hotel. It feels like a beach hotel. Perfect for relaxing. Very friendly staff. Foosball, darts, games, books. Great amenities. Plenty of space. Lots of free parking. Free coffee and tea available 24/7. Additional costs: Swimming pool and sauna are extra for the cheaper rooms. Located in an industrial area.

Plus • Children's menu children can draw on to entertain the children while waiting for food. • Nice staff. • Good fresh breakfast with a large selection and plenty of space / spacious to both sit and get food. The best scrambled eggs I've ever eaten! • Nice spa on several floors with a large selection of saunas. Nice outdoor environment to look at (in the surrounding area). • Plenty of parking (and free). • Lots of board games of various kinds for both young and old. • Billiards, ping pong, darts, football games, shuffleboards, video games, guess walk were available for everyone. • Quiet and nice, really relaxing when we were here. (Weekday during holiday times.) • Alternative relaxation with stone/water beds, light therapy, dark therapy, yoga and possibly more in addition to the normal spa offering. • Small TV in the rooms with the option to connect to Google Cast for streaming from your own device. Minus • Rotting in the bathroom next to the shower/door. • Really fluctuating temp in shower, cold one second, scalding hot 30 seconds later. • All pools were the same, basically the same (heat and depth). • Shuffleboards were there but they were crooked and tilted. One from end to end like a banana, the other in the middle so all moves were like on a skateboard ramp. • Bad parking for those who have difficulty walking. Steep hill where there are few parking spaces and a parking lot further down the steep hill. • Really bad lighting in bathroom. • Away from town. Added complexity to get in and out on your own.

Awesome place to relax

The spa at Arken was incredibly relaxing, luxurious and varied. Many different saunas, whirlpools, hot and cold baths, light and dark rooms and water beds. We were pleasantly surprised by all the choices! We reacted to the fact that it was dripping from the ceiling, looked like water damage and was slippery. Something the staff apparently knew about. A warning sign should have been given to us guests. All the pools were the same temperature. We would have liked at least one of the five regular pools to be a little colder, 20-30 degrees. The spa area is supposed to be relaxing and quiet, but several of the groups kept a high conversational tone when we were there. Would have appreciated if the staff went around and made sure this was followed. The rooms did not have the hotel feel and luxury that the rest of Arken provides, unfortunately. The beds were hard. The room was very small for a classic room. Rundown, needed to be refreshed. The toilet was running. The only thing that was good was the air conditioning. The hotel breakfast was standard. Nothing special. Pancakes and bacon cold. Missing smoothies and hot breakfast rolls. The bistro food was delicious! (picture) The staff was nice and accommodating. Overall happy with the stay and will be back! ☺️

Yes, right in the middle of the harbor and train tracks, but so nice, nice, delicious, lovely spa and professional staff.
