Father day was topped off with a fantastic meal and company of family and staff on the day Staff was attentive to all our needs especially coria and Gerald the information on meal was to point and perfect will be going again

Wonderful pub experience! Friendly check in. Amazing room appointment! Comfy beds with nice linen. Plenty of space, good storage. Lovely bathroom, powerful shower, luxurious bath,fluffy clean towels, great toiletries. Could benefit from a better hairdryer but the one provided was usable, a mirror on the other side of the room would have been helpful for getting ready (better lighting near the bath and available plug socket). Nice hospitality tray. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Also had an evening meal which was equally tasty. Great bar selection. Lots of nice seating areas including one outside.

We had a very enjoyable lunch here and Gerald the waiter was really charming. The food was excellent.

We went to the George a few weeks ago for a Sunday roast, it was delicious and the service was excellent. Chiara was delightful and very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

A mix bag on this one. Staff were excellent with honourable mention to Katie who was pleasant with great service too! The food was great, a little wait on breakfast however it looked and tasted fantastic! Now to the downside, the room. With it being a rather hot day/evening the window only opened slightly and had to prop it open with a boot. The shower in the evening was awful, hot and i mean seriously hot water with no cold water! Then in the morning no hot water and just ice cold! Really needs addressing if this hasnt been brought up before. Staff 👍🏻Food 👍🏻 Room 👎🏻

I've been coming to the George for over six years now. I travel to the area for work, so I sometimes stay and sometimes dine. I like the location and it's usually a friendly place to get food or a coffee. Sadly, it's really gone downhill since my last visit about 12 months ago. The service was really odd. This morning I waited ages to be seated for breakfast, no staff in sight. When the waiter did turn up, he insisted on checking if my breakfast was included before he'd seat me. It annoyed me so much I went elsewhere. If someone asks for breakfast, sit them down. I'm sure they will find a means to pay for it. The previous evening was weird too. I ordered a main. The waiter came over and said "there's no main left, is it because you have an allergy?" Again, this seemed rude, odd, and like this morning, out of context. We established the main I'd ordered had sold out. I then ordered other dishes, as he hovered next to me. He then said "How are we going to do this?", and explained he was worried (again) about payment. So odd. The room was also awful - hot and noisy (and price was gone up since last visit). Honourable mention to the staff member who went out of her way to try and cool my room down by providing an additional fan. The food was also solid, and I didn't mind that the mains had sold out. What irked me was suspicion and direct (public) questions from service staff who are supposed to set you at ease and make you feel welcome. A weird experience

This was beautiful for so many reasons. I stay in probably 2 or 3 hotels a week around the country and this has made my top 5. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating and the room was exceptional. Water pressure in the shower good enough for a proper massage and roll top bath you could swim in. Bed was super comfy. Food in the restaurant was 5 star we had the burger and the peri peri chicken. I am not going to mark it down but three bits of constructive feedback TV is a little small based on the size of the room and it would be a nice touch to have hot chocolate/welcome biscuits, would like the sash windows to open.

We came here for lunch and it was great. The star of the show was Gerald our waiter, who was absolutely fantastic! He was so attentive and had a great sense of humour. The food itself was really good with a great selection. Only minor downfall was that a couple of the desserts were quite small portions in comparison to the price point. Overall a lovely meal in a lovely setting.

Great place to stop for a drink with our children to break up a journey - the bar staff were exceptionally friendly to them. Lovely pub!
