Pennine Sauna is a small gay men's sauna at 96 Rochdale Road in Shaw, a town next to Oldham about 10 miles north-east of central Manchester, above the Trend launderette. It has been running for more than 40 years and is the homeliest of the Greater Manchester saunas: a traditional Finnish sauna, a steam room, hot showers, quiet dark relaxation areas, a TV lounge, and home-cooked hot meals, drinks and snacks to order. It closed in early 2024 after a fire in the launderette below and reopened on 1 August 2025. Reviews from autumn 2025 and early 2026 praise the staff and the welcoming feel, and a sauna directory re-verified it as open in June 2026. The crowd is mostly older and local; first-timers are talked through it. Google rating 4.6 from about 30 reviews. Hours are Wednesday to Sunday 12:00-19:00, closed Monday and Tuesday, with a flat £10 entry, cash only. There is no website, so phone 01706 842000 before travelling because small saunas change their days without notice. Getting there: Metrolink to Shaw and Crompton on the Oldham-Rochdale line (about 35 minutes from the city centre), then a short walk up Rochdale Road; the last tram back is around midnight, well after closing. Bring cash and flip-flops.

Love this place mainly older guys.Plenty of action on steam and dark. Unfortunately it is closed due to a fire in the launderette Unfortunately word has it that it won't reopen. It is due to reopen in about 4 weeks , today's date is 27th May.It has reopened get down there.Went in September on a Sunday.It was better than ever.

Great to see that Pennine Sauna has reopened (September 2025). I went on a Wednesday at lunchtime and had a good time. Saw some old faces, but also some new. Everyone was friendly. Great little sauna.
