Hotel Mama Cuchara by Art Hotels Ecuador

Mama Cuchara embodies Ecuador and its immense artistic heritage. It's the only entirely Ecuadorian network, with its own unique talent and distinctive style.

Our guide recommended this place and made a reservation for us. We had dinner at the rooftop bar. The food was great (it’s our first time trying Ecuadorian food), we enjoyed the service and took the food recommendations given by our server. The best thing was the 360° view from both the viewing deck and the restaurant. We saw how the city light up and it was beautiful. Thank you Kelly at the front desk for welcoming us and seeing us off and to Alex and Carlos for providing your big smiles and warm service.

To truly enjoy an art hotel experience, I believe more attention should be paid to the details (type of tableware, glasses, and cutlery). It's also essential to ensure that the gas heaters are always available. The menu's value for money could be improved in terms of portion size. However, the kindness of providing ponchos for the cold weather was a positive point. There's room for improvement.

It’s not just about treating guests well. You also need to treat your suppliers well, because together they make up the service your hotel provides. By order of the manager, we were made to provide our service on the street, in low temperatures, for more than three hours, without even access to a bathroom. Humiliating.

Guide told us it was dangerous to go out of the hotel in that location after dark - nothing to do in the evenings. We seemed to be the only people staying in the hotel, so it was soulless. Good breakfast, but you get served what they choose - no options. Lovely atrium. Nice touch - evening small sweet dish each
