Well located Impactfully clean Good service

I've stayed at Hotel St. Denis with my girlfriend 4 times over the last few years, each was a two night stay (5th time coming this weekend). There are reasons we keep coming back here. Perks: - The price is very reasonable and fair - Parking included- not sure why reviews that say they paid extra for parking, I've always booked directly through the hotel website and there's "Promotional discount:Parking included" as an option every time (and it's always the cheapest options of the selection). - GREAT location next to many things in Montreal - Nearby cafes for all meals - Staff at front desk always friendly and willing to help The only issue was during our 3rd stay, we were placed in a room where the sink was completely clogged and didn't drain properly. I mentioned this to the staff at the front desk, who said unfortunately they were booked solid and could not place us in a new room. However, she refunded us $50/night as a result of the malfunction. We just got creative and washed our hands with the bathtub faucet, only ran the sink for minimal time... no big deal. The vending machines have good snacks too. Hopefully they'll bring back the "Big Daddy" cookies- for a twoonie, you get a delectable chewy treat! Anyway, great stays, no frills hotel that has what you need.

We booked two nights well in advance and received a confirmation. Now, two months later, we've received a cancellation notice due to increased bookings. Our email inquiries have gone unanswered.

Well located. Good price... seriously, just a place to sleep downtown, it did the job perfectly. The TV worked, but not the air conditioning... at least the window opened. We were comfortable.

The room itself was nice, came with a mini fridge, closet and hooks for jackets, a tv, desk, wardrobe, modern lamps and good access to outlets, and a clean private bathroom. We stayed for a few nights and found the rooms and bathroom to meet all the cleanliness expectations of a nice hotel. The rooms were good for the price as well, we were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the bed was. For what we expected of the hotel for the cost, we were more than satisfied with what we got. The location is good too for the metro and any stores you may need staying there, everything is very walkable. However, the location can be a little sketchy at night for women staying alone, though nothing felt unsafe. The hotel feels secure and there is always someone at front desk all hours of the day. There are tons of steps if you're put on an upper level floor, so the elevator was a life saver. Overall, good stay and would stay there again for future montréal trips.

Stayed several days March 2026. Pros: - Good location: close proximity to basic shops like IGA, Pharmaprix, Jean Coteau, St Denis for bars, restaurants, cafes, and Berri UQAM metro. - King suites offer lots of space with sliding windows to let in fresh air and sun. Rooms are quiet and clean but well worn, with fairly comfortable beds and functional amenities like safes, large closets, work desk, mini fridge and some with sofa beds. - Some rooms have real wood floors that add a warm, charming homey period feel. - Front desk staff are helpful and accommodating. - Can be good value depending on the room and price. Cons: - The hotel is tidy and fairly well kept but nearly 100 years old, and shows its age in some areas with creaking or heavily worn floorboards, some dingy areas in some rooms, and dated fixtures - Some rooms have windows that open into an interior courtyard and don't fully lock, which can be a privacy and security concern (there were workers there unannounced one day) - Inconsistencies between rooms: some very comfortable and others with very offensive smells - Lots of noise at night from people in the alley behind, and some rubbish on the rooftop outside the windows including an old sleeping bag and used syringe 😕 - Slow drains and the first fill of a bath had water that looked a bit murky but came out clear afterwards - Potential safety issues needs more attention to detail: outlets that looked burnt or had metal pieces sticking out; some rooms missing fire alarms, others with obstructed peep holes

This hotel has a history, some might say it's a bit dated, but it offers the essentials: cleanliness, comfortable beds, and complete, functional amenities. The inclusion of access to the nearby parking lot is a very welcome bonus. The location is excellent, near Rue Sainte-Catherine, 500 meters from Old Montreal, and across from the charming Village neighborhood. On the ground floor, there's a free water dispenser and hot drinks are available for $1.

Very clean, comfortable and very well located

Small hotel in the city center. Underground parking. Not luxury, but clean, convenient and comfortable.

Comfortable bed. As mentioned in the reviews, the room is very dated. It's a bit of a shame, but for a short stay (in my case, 2 nights), it's not a big deal. The bed was very comfortable. The room was also very clean, and I particularly appreciated that the floor was hardwood, not carpet!
