The Federal Hotel Downtown Carson City, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The room was fine, but the smell of smoke one has to encounter, when entering the hotel is absolutely disgusting.

much better than the Google reviews and Choice select scores. The first floor is casino, so there was a little smell of cigarette. As mentioned in other reviews,the bed frames were very sharp.

Turned away in the middle of a blizzard by Diana the manager because our pups were too loud now we are afraid we are going to crash as it is a total white out. Talk about a real charmer. UPDATE: We crashed our car in the whiteout. Thanks Diana...

The room we had was ok. The direct TV lost connection on our last night and it never came back up. The bathroom was ok. There was no fan to circulate the air and the shower head only had 1 setting that sprayed pretty hard water. The temperature kept fluctuating while taking a shower. The corners of bathroom had dirt built up and the shower drain was very slow. The blinds did not shut all of the way so it was very bright in the room in the morning. I definitely to think it should have cost less for what we got.

I still have not gotten my deposit back. Very upsetting to be ripped off like that.

For a Carson City hotel, it was a nice stay. My only problem was that the shower kept going from boiling hot to freezing cold.

The federal hotel, formerly Carson Station, is under a remodel. I thought I would get a nice upgraded room, but I did not. The room was old. The furniture was OK. The carpet was a little gross. The water in the bathroom, did not stay hot or cold. It would blast out hot and cold and either burn you or freeze you! Wi-Fi did not reach the room, I was on the fourth floor back in the corner and did not have Wi-Fi the entire time. I did tell the front desk about it and the situation with the water. The bed was fairly comfortable. Good TV with lots of channels. There was shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in the room. And of course fun downstairs with the casino. Not too terribly smoky in the rooms. Has a nice view of the fall trees out my balcony. I’m including a picture of what they show the rooms to look like and I did not get what is in the picture. I’m sure they just haven’t remodeled that floor yet. I did not get pictures of the room, not impressed either way. When I stay there again? Probably not.

I stayed here for an entire year while on a buissness trip!!!!! I never had any problems!!!! Free drinks in the casino, played Keno and drank for free all morning. Good bloody Mary's. Never a wait at the atm, cash out booth, or the bar. Never over crowded. Always playing football games on Sundays. Clean. Clean. Clean. Never had any problems. Lots of parking in parking lot. Very centrally located in Carson City. Was hard to find a uber and almost impossible to find food delivery (that might have changed by now). Balconies on all the bedrooms. Cozy big rooms. My year of living here was pretty amazing. I definitely would do it all over again if I could. Definitely would recommend this hotel.
