Have loved Jin Ju since it opened or so 20 years ago. Great sojutinis and Korean food. The daiji kalbi app is amazing, as is the dol sut bi bim bap and the dak bulgogi. We've never actually had a miss here, everything tastes so good.
Love this place. Great food!
Sooooo goood House salad is so good!
Had been wanting to try Jin Ju for a while and finally made it in yesterday with a friend. The space is contemporary but fairly bare bones, and the food is clearly tailored to the Andersonville crowd rather than to anyone looking for something more authentic. We started with the gimbap and pajun, both decent. I had the seafood bibimbap and my friend had the japchae—both were one-note. The biggest letdown was the banchan: you only get it as a side to an entree, and the portions were insultingly tiny. Cocktails were watered down. Our server wasn't rude, just blasé about everything; the food runner was noticeably warmer. Food came out fast, which was fine, but we arrived around 7:50 and by 8:45 the dining room was empty and the staff was visibly closing down in the back. We were already planning to leave before close (we've both worked in service) but it still felt like we were tickets being moved through, not guests. With tip, we paid $60 each for two apps, two entrees, and two cocktails. Fair enough for the portions (banchan aside). I wouldn't recommend it over the more authentic Korean spots in the city or suburbs, but I could see it working as a cute neighborhood date place. Just don't go in expecting authenticity or memorable service.
No bang for your buck!! The short ribs were dry and tough! Presentation not like pictures on line. Very disappointing. We also thought there might’ve been a shortage of food!
