Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, about 30 minutes north of downtown along the Mississippi, is a large state park whose wooded trails and campground carry a long-standing reputation as a warm-weather gay cruising spot. It is a genuine nature destination first — hiking, fishing and lakes — with cruising an informal after-hours undercurrent rather than anything organised. Go with the usual caution: keep to public areas, mind the park's daytime hours, and remember Tennessee offers no statewide LGBTQ+ protections.
