Generations of Philadelphians knew FDR Park simply as 'The Lakes' — one of the city's oldest documented queer cruising grounds. Today the activity concentrates on the park's southern side under the elevated I-95 spans near the tennis courts, evenings and after dark.
Know before you go: the park is in the middle of a massive multi-year renovation — fencing and construction move constantly, and patrols pass through. Pennsylvania's public-lewdness laws apply; treat it as a meeting ground. The Gayborhood's bars, including the legendarily cruisy Bike Stop, are a short ride north.

We are from out of state. Stopped by the park during a trip. It could be very nice park but it isnt well maintained at all. My kids also accidently found a bee hive on one of the climbing sections of the playground that looked like a birdcage and each got stung 4 times. I got stung twice trying to get them out of there... So.. I may also be salty about that. So take that for what it's worth.
Very nice had a blast
Best playground on the East Coast!
