O tym miejscu Thurst Lounge

Thurst Lounge is a Black-owned LGBTQ+ bar and lounge at 2204 14th Street NW, a block north of 14th and U. It opened in December 2023, and DCist and Out x Out both describe it as DC's only Black-owned LGBTQ+ bar. The crowd is largely queer people of colour, and the focus is on cocktails and socialising. Google rates it 4.2 from about 150 reviews. It's a short walk from Crush, Bunker and Spark Social, so it fits easily into a 14th Street night. My first night in DC and this is exactly how you’re supposed to start it. A friend brought me to Thurst for birthday weekend vibes, and from the moment I walked in, the energy felt intentional and warm. The purple neon lighting creates this sultry, intimate atmosphere without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you can actually connect, laugh, and still feel like you’re outside living. The music was a vibe. Smooth R&B blended with some Jamaican flavor and nostalgic cuts that made the room feel alive. It wasn’t chaotic; it was curated. The sound set the tone without overpowering the experience. What stood out most was how comfortable the space felt. Beautiful crowd, welcoming energy, and that perfect balance between lounge and nightlife. It’s not just somewhere you go to be seen; it’s somewhere you go to feel good. Perfect first stop for my DC weekend. I’d absolutely return.

If you’re like me and enjoy the hip/hop, rap, pop kinda vibe with a somewhat diverse crowd then this is the place. Sometimes the crowd could be too good for dancing but not always. They can definitely use some Soca/AfroBeats/Amapiano in the mix for DJ’s to complete the vibe! Drinks are strong and worth it! The space is kind of a tight fit if it’s a big group you’re with because of how long and narrow it is.

We visited this spot for some drinks and hookah, and we quite enjoyed it. However, it was extremely crowded and bustling, making it a lively hangout spot with friends. Yet, if you seek a quiet place for a chat, this isn't the ideal spot due to the loud atmosphere during the early evening hours. The hookah was decent but not exceptional, probably a three out of five for a hookah enthusiast like me. The service was understandably busy, so they couldn't be attentive all the time. Nevertheless, the ambiance exuded immense joy and liveliness, making it a delightful place to socialize with friends.

My wife and I had a great time checking out the new Thurst lounge. Even for a Thursday it was pretty packed. Although the vast majority of patrons were men we still felt welcomed and comfortable. Prices were reasonable and bathrooms were clean. We would definitely return.

Thurst Lounge is a whole grown azz vibe! Service was amazing, dranks were drankin and OMG, the music was giving “I’m trying to sit down but I can’t”! A great spot for after work HH, a low key hang or a full turn up moment. I’m so glad this place is here and can’t wait to come back. 💃🏽
