The Abbey Food & Bar

The Abbey Food & Bar is the most famous gay bar in West Hollywood, on North Robertson Boulevard just off Santa Monica Boulevard. It started as a coffee house in the early 1990s and grew into a large indoor-outdoor complex: a restaurant serving food most of the day, several bars, a big covered patio and a dance floor with DJs at night. It draws locals, tourists, bachelorette groups and the occasional celebrity. It opens at 11am on weekdays and 9am on weekends for brunch, and closes at 2am every night. Weekend evenings get crowded and there is often a line at the door, so arrive early. Drinks are priced above average for WeHo. The Robertson block has several other gay bars within a minute's walk.
