It's a shame about the environment; despite its convenient location near the train station, you don't feel safe outside. Also, while the reception and security staff are very pleasant, the breakfast staff leaves much to be desired due to their nonchalance and lack of friendliness.

It was my first visit of Japanese business hotel in France. At first it seemed to me a bit strange, but most probably I'm not used to Japanese culture. Specially weird to me was a bathroom, full block from plastic equipped with traditional Japanese heated spray toilets. Breakfast was a bit minimalistic, and no vegetables. I chose this hotel because of short distance 5 min from the train and bus station and reasonable price.

A pretty disappointing stay... The good stuff: The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Marseille train station where the TGV arrives, which was super convenient. But... The room had a Japanese-style toilet, but it wouldn't flush properly. The water drained at a painfully slow pace. Even after flushing multiple times, "number two" just stayed put. The water would fill up almost to the rim and then very slowly seep away. Gross. The beds were okay. However, there are absolutely no wardrobes or closets to store your clothes, just a tiny coat rack. There was a coffee machine in the room, but they didn't even bother to leave any coffee for it. The bathroom is entirely made of plastic—the kind of prefab pod you’d expect in a budget hotel, except this place was way more expensive. On top of that, there is no bar in the hotel. If you want a drink, you have to go look for a vending machine. Breakfast and service: The breakfast buffet had the usual classics: bread, pastries, cold cuts, jams, scrambled eggs, etc. But the service at breakfast was really unfriendly. When the lady in front of me took the very last juice glass, I asked a staff member for fresh glasses. She just glanced around and told me to use the disposable paper cups instead. Call me picky, but I prefer drinking my morning juice from a real glass. On a positive note, the reception staff were polite and professional. Still, they won't be seeing us ever again at a Toyoko Inn.

Okay. The reception was a bit mixed. Nothing catastrophic, but not very accommodating to requests.

Good value for money. The room was adequate. We appreciated the concept. Very comfortable bed. The reception staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was efficient, but the staff were reserved and lacked interaction.

Very well located, just 10 minutes from Marseille-Saint-Charles train station. Welcoming staff and excellent value for money.

Stayed here for my birthday as a surprise. We were greeted at check-in by a thinned lip, bald white man in his 60’s. Not one smile not a welcome and not a visible willingness to be nice. If you do not like people, receptionists is not the job for you. So this comment is for to the direction of this hotel : Employees need to go through soft skills training : (smile, Bonjour, Welcome). The bald man said the number of our room out loud, he needs training to understand that he cannot do that. Receptionists also need to tell the guests to close their door well, otherwise there is a constant bip like sound that sounds like an alarm. Regarding the room, if you have a hard time sleeping with light, bring a sleeping mask as early in the morning the light invades the room (check photo of 6am) The bed is ok and the room was spacious, the toilet was quite small and the bath tub was quite good, with good water pressure. Breakfast was basic and a chaos in the morning, however they do have it so it is better than nothing. Overall if you’re on a budget this might be good for you, however look around you might find better at the same or a big higher price.
