Toyoko Inn Marseille Vieux Port - 3.5/5 I stayed here, and for the price, it's a great value. It's 100% Japanese: small but super clean rooms, very comfortable beds, and no frills. The location is its strong point: a 10-minute walk from the Vieux Port, close to the metro/tram, and with Notre-Dame de la Garde visible from afar. Perfect if you want to get around without a taxi. Breakfast included. Friendly staff. It's a hotel for sleeping and leaving, not for luxury. If you're just looking for clean, centrally located, and affordable accommodations, I recommend it.

The room decor is dated compared to the building. It's located near the station but surrounded by rather unattractive buildings. The Japanese-style toilet is a curious touch.

Good value for money - Location : Good transportation access, a 7-minute walk from Saint-Charles Station (M1 M2) and a 2-minute walk to the nearest bus stop : There is a lot of construction nearby, and it feels quite isolated : Many homeless people are visible. It is even a bit worrying to come from the station or the nearby Carrefour during the day - Within 30 minutes of major hubs such as the Old Port, Lapanier, Longchamp Park, and Parc de Paro - Rooms : Seems decent for the price and is neatly arranged : The bathroom is small and has a distinctive smell : No amenities provided other than shampoo and body wash. It is a double room, but there are 2 large towels, a bath mat, and 1 small towel (the towels are old and lack elasticity). Additional towels are provided upon request, but I am not sure if there is a charge for them : Equipped with a refrigerator (no water), safe, TV, table, and 1 chair, and about 5 wall-mounted hangers. The air conditioner works well. It is cool. : Even with the lighting, it is on the dim side. Electrical outlets are located on one wall, and there are USB ports and 8-pin adapters on the headboard, allowing you to charge devices like mobile phones, although charging seems a bit slower than fast charging. - Breakfast : Provided free of charge. While most hotels start breakfast at 7:00 or 7:30, simple bread is provided at 6:30 for guests leaving early. From 7:00 onwards, a variety of breads, omelets, various hams, cheeses, cereals, fruit, coffee, milk, and beverages are available. : The quality is not high, but it is filling enough to leave with. - The staff are friendly. - The hotel has a paid parking lot. The rates are similar to those of hotels in major French cities. However, I was a bit taken aback because the entrance seemed to be connected to a construction site. When you first arrive, enter the entrance and press the call button (which seemed to be a phone button) on the barrier of the underground ramp; this connects you to the lobby. If you say you are there to check in, they briefly explain the fees and other details, and if you reply "OK," they open the barrier.

Hygiene is top, beds are very comfy, soft towels and good working aircon. Breakfast is basic but good.. Control of hot water a little tricky but nice water pressure and love the japanese toilet system.
