Mykonos is a small island with a concentrated gay scene, and the line between socializing and cruising here is not sharply drawn. Super Paradise Beach during the day and the bar circuit at night both serve as meeting points in a way that is hard to separate from the general social atmosphere of the place.

Super Paradise Beach

Super Paradise is the main outdoor scene. During peak summer, the beach fills with a gay crowd from around midday. The beach bar at Super Paradise plays music, people rent sunbeds, and the social dynamic is open and easy. It is one of those environments where meeting people happens organically rather than through any specific structure.

Getting there requires a water taxi from Ornos Beach or a boat from the old port. Boats run regularly in high season. The ride takes 20-25 minutes and is part of the experience.

The bar scene at night

The bars in Chora function as meeting points for the whole island's gay crowd, compressed into a small geographic area. Because Mykonos is tiny and the gay scene is concentrated, you will see the same faces across different venues across the evening. Pierro's late at night is where the most concentrated late-night social energy ends up.

The island's size works in your favour here. There is nowhere to scatter to. The crowd stays compact.

Indoor venues

    • Paraportiani Church — It's a shame that we gay guys sometimes have more of an eye for men than for architecture because this 800 year old Greek Church is spectacular. However, it is also the center of the cruising area of Mykonos. Late at night many guys cruise the little streets and squares for a pick up. Most of the action takes place down on the rocks. Watch out considering these rocks can be very slippery!

Practical notes

Mykonos does not have the kind of dedicated indoor cruising infrastructure you find in larger cities. The sauna scene is limited. What it has instead is a beach and bar culture that is socially open in a way that functions similarly. If you have spent time on Super Paradise on a busy July afternoon, you understand the dynamic.
