I love
The sauna is very old, and the clientele is mostly adult men. It's unpleasant to be in the sauna; the atmosphere is uncomfortable. There's no hot water, and everything is in terrible condition. The only plus is the hot tub. Admission is $8. I'd recommend another sauna for tourists.
The place is anything but relaxing. The sunbeds are broken, and the dark room reeks of all kinds of filth. The upstairs shower drain is clogged, causing water to overflow. But the worst part, the absolute worst, is that instead of professional massage therapists, they hire people who are good-looking, yes, but who have no clue how to massage muscles. The place is only good for one thing: if you're looking for something truly relaxing, don't go.
The place is easy to get to from downtown Guayaquil. The taxi from 9 de Octubre cost me US$2.50 to get there. The service is TERRIBLE. It's a shame that this time I returned after 5 years and couldn't find the owner, otherwise I would have immediately told him to fire all his staff. The service is the worst, but I like the place. The people act all modest, but in the dark room, they let loose.
