Kind Space

The staff could do better at being less.....for lack of a better phrase...passively bitchy... I mean I went there while I was in a shelter because there was no where I could go and not face passive remarks, mean girl behavior etc, I had hoped to do therapy there too but I have no idea what got Into the staffs heads but I was talked about constantly when people thought my earbuds were in....things like apparently I smell, steal things (typical Ottawa hate)...I just feel an attitude when I'm there so...I don't go anymore. as a gay male I definitely don't see representation in the staff and I feel my personal views were held against me not to mention being stonewalled when I asked about counseling, I heard staff turn clothes away multiple times..one time they asked the potential donator if they were gender affirming clothes because of they weren't they don't want them. Apparently the clothing donation is only for people to try different genders clothing in a safe space which may seem noble but.. I'm not sure the organization is clued in enough to the community to realistically serve any portion of us....just a weird place to be. I feel the money donated to keep this place open could be utilized better...as a Queer individual it breaks my heart to see donated money be wasted on a project which philosophically makes sense but routinely closes for rented out events...points to issues any non profit would have in offering services to LGBTs...how do you know? It's tricky. People in need will say anything to get the help they need but to be fair it should be met with better solutions from the community.

Nice social group, people are welcoming. Their website can be outdated at times.

Kind space is a great community resource full of amazing people, and they are super welcoming to everyone and anyone

Joining the community was the best decision I have made because it feels so peaceful to be there with others.

A safe and compassionate place for LGBTQ2S+ folk of all ages. Runs several programs for all age ranges, staffed by well-trained facilitators. Additionally, there is a lending library and they have drop-in hours during the week.

I like Kind Space. You can rest easy and be yourself here. 😎😍

I love kind space. It was my first time attending and everyone was so nice. It’s a great organization that is definitely filling a need that’s required. I love the events they host and activities.
