The Wildbirch Hotel - JDV by Hyatt

Great central location and clearly a recent renovation, so as a loyal Hyatt member I'm excited to see the brand expanding with new options here. That said, the experience fell short of typical Hyatt standards in several ways: Check-in: The front desk associate didn't look up my reservation or Hyatt membership before telling me check-in was at 3 PM and suggesting I come back. About ten minutes later, I watched him greet other guests and ask whether they were Hyatt members — a courtesy I wasn't offered. When I returned later, he mentioned he'd been about to give my room away and that I was "lucky" I came back up. For a loyalty member, that felt dismissive. Room: The room itself was acceptable, but there were signs it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned before arrival. The dual showerhead setup looked like a nice touch, but the water pressure was far too low to actually run both heads — it came across as more of a visual upgrade than a functional one. The shower also appeared to have been installed or repaired hastily. Lobby experience: We were socializing with friends in the lobby around midnight. Rather than a staff member letting us know about quiet hours or a lobby closing time, they had the on-site security officer deliver the message. It felt unnecessarily heavy-handed and unwelcoming. I also noticed ongoing hallway repairs during our stay, so the property still seems to be a work in progress. I'm a genuine Hyatt fan and consistently choose them over competitors. This property has potential, but it needs tighter operational oversight to meet the standard guests expect from the brand.

Staff are disorganised. We booked 3 rooms and they put all the elderly people at the furthest rooms possible all in different locations. We asked for rooms near by and we couldn’t have been further apart. 1 room was not ready till an hour after checking and then the porters asking for money for just giving us bags from behind the desk. They didn’t do anything besides move the bag 5 feet. He flashed his cash and said do you want a tip? where’s my tip? I work hard and I get nothing.. I’m sitting there shocked with his attitude and his casualness about wanting money for doing literally his job! Not a good first impression of this place. Infact as a first time in Anchorage I can say this left a horrid taste in my mouth. Edit in response to your reply. Further more please note the rooms are quite loud you can hear everything from outside so if you’re a light sleeper and you’re facing the road you’ll have a bad night. There’s also quite a few drug affected people outside who are yelling and screaming at all hours. Just be noted as this hotel is low rise and windows are single glaze. To the management who said they’ve reviewed the footage please look again. He pulls out a wad of cash and flicks it around in front of me and asks me if I want a tip. Then proceeds to ask for a tip. The staff saw it too at the front desk, I have 3 witnesses to verify this.

Very clean hotel! Convenient location! Hotel is huge! Two different elevators to get to different wings of the hotel!

Paint smell not safe for pregnancy and then asthma means taking an inhaler while pregnant which isn't safe.

Loved the hotel, rooms, and location. Only bad thing: turned the shower all the way to hot but it didn’t get past lukewarm. Friend staying in a different room had the same experience. Wonderful hotel, just needs to fix this issue. Gave it a low mark for service because I went to the bar area and the bartender never served or even acknowledged me.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE! They never came and cleaned the room even we requested. You have to find housekeepers in hallways to ask for new towels. Parking fee is ridiculous. Homeless people are everywhere around the hotel!

My room was near a busy, loud intersection.

When your room comes with ear plugs thats your first red flag! If you are looking for a good nights sleep this isn’t your place to stay! Constant motorcycles, trucks and cars racing up and down the strip outside your window. You would think the local law would do something about it but nope it just continues throughout the night. Wish I would have know this before booking!
