Bu yer hakkında Halloween at Hotel Monte Vista

Hotel Monte Vista is a historic hotel that opened in 1927 on San Francisco Street in downtown Flagstaff, a block from the old Route 66. It's a mainstream hotel listed as gay-friendly, not a gay property. It's known for its period lobby, its many stories of reported hauntings and the Monte Vista Cocktail Lounge on the ground floor. Halloween events here draw crowds. Rooms are older and vary a lot in size, and freight trains pass close to downtown through the night, so bring earplugs. Book at hotelmontevista.com.

If you are a trans girl be warned they will disrespect you here and kick you out of the bar if you use the ladies restroom. They host a lot of drag shows and seem to be friendly to that but when it comes to to legitimate trans people, The Hotel Monte Vista fails miserably. The security staff here and bartenders are total jerks to trans people.

I'd give them less than a 1 if that option was available! I had reservations to stay here during my Route 66 road trip with friends and wanted to stay in historical places when could along the way. Well, I've never been more angry and disappointed with a lodging experience anywhere in the world I've travelled!! Checked in first evening and no hotel parking available and told to park on the street and "probably" shouldn't get a ticket if we removed our car by 9am. The suite I reserved was unavailable due to "maintenance issues" and was "upgraded" to another suite at no charge. We got to our "upgraded" suite and carpet was filthy so set luggage on chairs and saw the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there were pubic hairs in tub and on floor and the sink faucets were barely secured. Oh well, we were hungry and went out for dinner and drinks. Got back later that night and when ready for bed we checked our windows that looked out on second floor roof with scaffolding for workers going right up to windows. Well, the windows wouldn't lock and when we tried to lock them the ac units LITERALLY fell out of the windows and we had to pull them back into place get them re-situated with the 2 little pieces of years-old particle wood that held them there. I was so angry and went down to front desk where the young clerk was playing on his phone for 1 minute before I interrupted him, demanded to speak to a manger who was "not going to be on duty for 2 more days", so told the clerk everything about the room and that I wanted a full refund for both reservation nights and to cancel my second reservation at no cost, and to note this in their computer. This was not just about health issues but potential major safety code violations. I originally wasn't going to write a review because I did get a refund for one night but recently saw my card was still charged for the second night so here I am writing. DO NOT stay in this hotel unless you like filthy rooms that can be easily accessed by workers and your belongings could be stolen and we were lucky that didn't happen while we were out for dinner. Sorry for the long review and "quotes" around words but that is what was actually said to me so want to be fair and we were not the only room/suite that had the ac window unit issues. So, be mindful and careful if you stay here!!

If you go to Flagstaff and want to sleep in a historic hotel, this one is perfect. Fantastically preserved, this hotel, which has hosted famous actors, does not go unnoticed. Decorated as if time had stood still, its charm and good taste do not go unnoticed.

First, neither my grandson, nor I saw any "ghosts." The closest reasonable facsimile was the desk clerk who failed to understand he was in the "hospitality" business. That said, this historic building is well worth a visit. "Quaint" doesn't adequately describe it. Being downtown, there's lots of restaurants within an easy walk. Try Teatro just a half block away. Outstanding!

I decided to spend the night in Flagstaff, which was probably not the smartest idea given that Sedona is super gorgeous and just an hour drive away. Hotel Monte Vista is bang in the middle of the very small town, so it seemed as good a choice as any. I got a corner queen room (210), and it was perfectly fine except for 2 big issues: it was very poorly soundproofed so all the street noise was very audible and meant I didn't get a lot of sleep, and the curtains are completely translucent so if you're light-sensitive expect to wake up first thing in the morning. If they fixed these issues I'd give it 4 stars, it is well located and the price is ok.

Rooms as advertise. The service by hotel staff was sub par. You don’t want to be in a room near the bars in the evening. Security is lacking!

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life. I made a huge mistake not checking Tripadvisor before I booked this hotel. There are two music clubs on the first floor of this hotel play music until 2 AM. On a Tuesday. My room was on the second floor, which meant it might as well have been right in the club. If you plan on staying in this hotel and getting sleep… Which is generally a reasonable expectation at a hotel… forget about it. Staying here was a huge rip off.

It's a beautiful old building, built in 1926 and the location in historic downtown is great. That's where the positives end, for us. They put us in a room that measured about 12 X 15. The closet was as wide as Rob's suitcase and about 4 feet tall. The bathroom was about the size of a broom closet. We had to sit on the bed to watch the little TV. The water just trickled out of the faucet and the baseboard electric heat barely worked. This is important when it's 20F outside. Our room was freezing. We had to request extra blankets to try to get warm for the night. There were 4 electrical outlets, one behind the bed. They were too loose to keep anything plugged in so our phones and little speaker ran out of juice and our laptops were borderline. We were supposed to stay 4 nights but were so frustrated we checked out in the morning after one night. While I understand that the hotel is old, an historic landmark and all, the poor accommodations certainly did not justify the high price we were charged plus $25/night to park in the tiny little parking lot. Fortunately, we were reimbursed after checking out 3 nights early.

Loud, no parking and no help from staff. All around terrible. Staff couldn't care less that streets around s hotel were closed and guests were not informed

Not a place for families. Nobody at the front desk could care less about what you have to say. If you stay on the lower floors, you will feel like you are in a club. "Management" cannot do anything. Please do not give this place your time and money.

Never, ever, ever stay here. First, they have no way to park by the hotel to get your luggage in, and apparently no luggage carts. Instead park in their parking lot that’s incredibly rough and narrow and try to roll your luggage over horrible asphalt. Then carry up a few steps at the side door. THEN deal with a check-in clerk who doesn’t know where their horrid parking lot is and thinks we parked in the BofA lot instead of their lot adjacent to the rear of the hotel. Then use an elevator without an interior light (that’s fun) to enter a room too people can barely navigate. You can’t even put your shaving kit next to the sink. Our room overlooked a side street and because the have a window a/c unit that uses cheap corrugated plastic to cover the gap in the window ALL of the street sounds, including the drunk bar patrons going home at 2am, enter the room with zero muffling. Then try to sleep in a room with a single layer black curtain woven so loosely that you could almost read with the lights out in the middle of the night. The room is so small you can hardly lay your luggage down to open it. The bed is super uncomfortable. And narrow-full size, I think, and not a queen. And when your partner moves the whole bed moves with it. Seems the owners want to live off the legacy of an old hotel than to create an inviting, relaxing hotel where travelers can sleep and regain their energy. If you book here anyway it’s your fault. We warned you. Don’t stay here.

I would give this place one star, but I hear 2-star reviews are more likely to be read. This place has a VERY LOUD BAR on the first floor that's open until 2am, and they rent out the rooms right above it. If you're looking for a party, this might be the place for you. It's not a place to rest. The first night, around 11p, when I got back and realized my room was directly above the bar, I asked if I could please change rooms. The guy said I'd have to pay the difference for a room elsewhere. I don't blame HIM - he doesn't make the decisions - but they have no business renting out room 211 or anything else over the bar, and there's absolutely no reason I should pay extra to have a room I can actually sleep in. The area with the pool tables - one of the reasons I wanted to stay here - isn't open on Sunday or Monday (my days). There's also very, very limited free parking. I thought the place looked quaint, and was okay taking a single room with a shared bathroom, thinking it would be a nice bathroom. It was not. They were tiny closets, nowhere to hang your clothes or put your shampoo, soap, etc. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, just based on the fact that someone willing to charge $130+ a night for a closet over a bar shouldn't get your money.

Stayed in the John Wayne room years ago, had no AC at the time, think some rooms do now. It is an old historic hotel but pretty run down and was dirty I recall. It was cheap; but then again so is a holiday inn. The bar was fine.

I went on a business trip and stayed the night. The rooms are great slept like a baby. Everybody was nice. It was awesome going to the bar drinking great beers and I have to give MAJOR SHOUT OUT to EVER and CALIN. The work ethic and the way these two bartenders worked together like a well oiled machine. It was impressive. It’s a must stay if your in Flagstaff and have to stay the night in the town

Read carefully and take note of the warnings about noise on the hotel website before booking. If you want to use the laundry be sure to have a pocket full of quarters because the hotel doesn't bother to keep any. Sorry to say 'Historic' = decrepit, noisey and dirty. There are better hotels on Flagstaff.

Old downtown hotel in need of upgrades for basics. Extremely loud on weekends with no parking. Parking option they provided was garage across street at $80 for one night. Front desk service was friendly and helpful.

Can’t say that I was to impressed for as much as they charge. No microwave, no fridge. There is a hair dryer . Toilets and bathrooms are small so if you are a heavier person you will have to be creative in maneuvering your body to wipe if you take a poo. Beds are ok. They do have real comforters rather that drapery. If you want go sleep and it’s the weekend bring ear plugs because there is a bar and you can hear quite a bit.

The bar in this hotel has the absolute rudest staff in the city. Every time we have gone there, we’ve had a negative experience with one of the bartenders. Must trickle down from the owner. You can always tell how well the place is run by the owners response. Notice you don’t see a single response to any review meaning they really don’t give a damn. There are much better bars in Flagstaff.

I did not stay here, however, I had such a pleasure of speaking with Olyver! His customer service was absolutely beautiful, and although I needed a hotel with a pool, should I not need one in the future when visiting America, I will be staying here and asking for Olyver specifically!

It's a really cool hotel. Great location. Has a small parking lot. The staff is chill and they really preserved the hotel well. That being said, it is obviously old and can be dusty. We stayed in room 312. It was convenient but right above the bar below and we could hear people partying all night unfortunately. Strage that it was a Tuesday too. The bed was not so good. It was the most ancient bed and very uncomfortable. Too soft and bouncy. The pillows had no neck support. I also had to rearrange the wall decor in our room because there were 3 mirrors reflecting off eachother.... attracting spirits if you know what I mean.... For the experience, I would not have it any other way. It was cool to stay 1 night and explore town PSA: this hotel is supposedly haunted but we didn't experience any paranormal stuff 👻

Nice old hotel that has been renovated. Bath/showers and toilets are communal in the hallway, which is okay. However for the shower, there is no place to hang your towel or clothes, not even a peg on the wall. Bar downstairs is nice and makes great drinks. However, the music goes on until late, and then the patrons stumble out into the street to add to the noise. I would have loved it if I was still in college or getting hammered at the bar. Trying to get a decent night's sleep was impossible, though. If you don't mind staying in a nice, historic, frat house, sign right up. Otherwise, find another place to sleep and just enjoy a nice drink at the bar.

I recently stayed at Hotel Monte Vista, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Upon check-in, I was aware that my initial room did not include a private bathroom, which I was okay with. However, shortly after settling in, I used the shared restroom and was shocked by how unsanitary it was. The toilet was visibly dirty, the floors were unclean, and there were fecal marks on the toilet seat and surrounding areas. It appeared as though the restroom had not been properly cleaned for quite some time, which is completely unacceptable. Because of this, I returned to the front desk and paid to upgrade to a room with a private bathroom. While the upgraded room was more appropriate, I should not have had to spend additional money just to avoid such poor and unhygienic conditions. Later that night, I experienced an even more disturbing situation involving a security guard. While waiting in the lobby for a food delivery, my service dog was sitting quietly at my feet and not bothering anyone. The security guard approached us in an aggressive and hostile manner, questioning why my dog was not on a leash. I explained that it is a service animal, but he continued to escalate the situation. He began raising his voice and demanded to know what my disability was, even stating that I “did not look like” I had a disability. This was extremely inappropriate, invasive, and discriminatory. The situation became so uncomfortable that a front desk employee had to step in and tell the security guard to leave us alone. This interaction completely ruined our night. The following morning, we checked out early and booked a stay at a different hotel. We attempted to report these issues to staff at the front desk, but were told no manager was available. When we followed up later, we were informed that the hotel does not handle formal complaints and that we would need to contact our bank or leave a review. Overall, this experience was handled in a very unprofessional and inappropriate manner. Between the unsanitary conditions and the way we were treated, I would not recommend staying here.

Historic value is the draw. Quirky, themed rooms, and very busy downstairs bars. Rooms are outdated and cleanliness could be improved upon - beware the noise from the bars can be heard on all floors until closing. All in all, a historic location in the Flagstaff area with many dining and shopping options within walking distance.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed at in my entire life. There are not one but two separate bars in the lower level that play pulsing music until Midnight for one, 2:00AM for the other. On a Tuesday. It was literally impossible to sleep in this hotel, which is an important part of the whole staying at a hotel experience. The only reason to stay here is if you plan on going to the bar and closing it. ADDED BONUS! They blew off my wake-up call! If I had missed my train the next one was only 24 hours later. This place sucks. Don’t stay here.

The hotel is beautiful from the inside of didn’t expect no 5star hotel is a unique and very historical building plus the history to this location. Also having said this hotel is haunted is a plus! We stayed one night and me and my partner both had nightmares in this room couldn’t sleep after 2:30pm and our dreams were about the room! Pretty creepy!! Definitely recommend if you love the paranormal.
