Location, food and size of room are good. Customer service is very poor, they let you wait until they are ready to serve you. Staff overall need to be more welcoming towards customers

If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back to the mid 20th century, this hotel may be exactly what you're after. Unfortunately, I arrived expecting luxury accommodation and discovered I had apparently booked a time machine instead. As someone living with mobility challenges and CRPS, accessibility is something I need to plan carefully. I found the property difficult to navigate, with heavy doors, steps, and a room that was dark, cramped, and challenging to move around in using a transit wheelchair. The reception staff were friendly and did provide a wheelchair for me to use, which I appreciated. However, I was advised it might need to be returned if another guest required it, so it wasn't something I could rely on throughout my stay. When a CRPS flare made getting to breakfast became difficult, I asked whether room service was available and was told it wasn't. The breakfast I eventually received included scrambled eggs on a bun that were cold and astonishingly wet. I didn't know eggs could be both cold and damp while still technically counting as breakfast, but every day is a learning experience. My biggest frustration is that the hotel itself wasn't the experience I had been led to expect before arriving. Had I known I was booking a historic property with limited accessibility and a very traditional feel, I would have planned accordingly. Instead, it was sold to me as a luxury stay from my now former travel agent, which created expectations the reality simply couldn't meet. This may be a good fit for travellers seeking historic charm and vintage character. For those expecting modern luxury, accessibility, and contemporary comfort, I'd recommend asking some very detailed questions before booking.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent family stay at this hotel. Two weeks after checking out, I discovered an unauthorised transaction on my bank statement where the hotel deducted money from my account without any prior notice, itemised invoice, or explanation. When I called to investigate, they claimed it was a policy charge for using the room's minibar. Here is what actually happened: my young son picked up some items from the minibar, but when I checked them, 4 out of the 5 items placed in the fridge were completely expired. This is a massive health and safety hazard, especially for families traveling with children. Furthermore, when I tried to report this and ask for assistance during our stay, the in-room phone was completely broken. I had to physically walk down to the reception multiple times just to remind the staff of the issues, which they failed to fix. To make matters worse, when I called management about the post-checkout charge, they hid behind "hotel policy" and flatly refused to help. And blamed that they called to inform, but I never received a call or seven a missed call. Charging a customer's card weeks later for expired, unsafe food while ignoring their own broken amenities is unacceptable. Really disappointing!

Wonderful stay. Walking distance to food, convenience shopping and parks. Protected parking. The bar and restaurant are an excellent option if you do want to go out.

Hotel Kurrajong Canberra has potential, but several basic issues made the stay feel very average. There’s no complimentary parking, and EV charging is only available if you pay the $18 parking fee, which feels like an unnecessary extra cost. In the room, the phone was broken, the shower was broken, and there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, so it got very steamy after showering. I also tried calling reception and nobody picked up until after four attempts. The staff were eventually responsive, but it shouldn’t take that many tries to reach someone. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible stay, but for the price and reputation, these maintenance and service issues let it down. With better upkeep and faster reception response, it could be a much better experience.
