Melodies is a small gay bar on the first floor of the C.C. Cita shopping centre in Playa del Inglés. It was set up by a gay couple, Chris and Stephan, and has a relaxed, regulars' feel. Guests rate it highly, at 4.7 from more than 200 reviews. It's a place to talk over a drink, not a dance bar. Listed hours are 17:00 to 02:30 on weekdays, with a noon start on Saturday and Sunday. The Yumbo Centre, the hub of Gran Canaria's gay nightlife, is a few minutes' walk away, so Melodies works well as a first or last stop.

Great pub. A must for rock fans. Fantastic live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays. And Gudrun and Michael are wonderful people. Definitely worth a visit.

A simple, no-frills location, but with a genuinely authentic atmosphere. The German owner is extremely friendly and makes you feel welcome right away. The real highlight is the live music: proper rock played by very talented guitarists — genuinely skilled musicians and a pleasure to listen to. The only downside is the acoustics, which could be improved — the sound tends to be a bit compressed in the mid frequencies, slightly affecting the overall listening experience. Note: this is not a place for food, but a bar/lounge focused on drinks and live music. We'll definitely be back.
