Gay Bars & Clubs in Lausanne (2026)
Lausanne's gay nightlife is small: two gay bars, a couple of friendly ones, and one big Sunday party. The city lost its last dedicated gay club, 43&10 on Rue de Bourg, around 2015. The long-running GT's Bar reopened in 2024 as a general karaoke bar. Here's what was actually open when we checked in October 2026.
Gay bars
Le Saxo
Rue de la Grotte 3, just below Place Saint-François. The oldest gay bar still open in Lausanne, small and full of regulars, with karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Travel Gay and misterb&b list it as open Wednesday to Sunday from 18:00, until about 01:00 midweek and 02:00 at weekends. Its website is offline, so phone 021 323 46 83 before a quiet night.
Pin Up Bar
Rue Marterey 31, uphill from the Riponne. Time Out Switzerland describes it as a mixed lesbian and gay bar, open since 2011. The crowd leans towards women, and it's the closest thing Lausanne has to a lesbian bar. Wednesday is oyster night. It has no website, so call 021 311 33 33 to check it's open.
Gay-friendly bars
Opéra 5
Avenue de Tivoli 5, in the former GT's Bar. Since autumn 2024 it has been a bar-restaurant with karaoke, plus a basement "Backstage" room for comedy, concerts and private parties. misterb&b still lists it, but it no longer markets itself as gay. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 17:00.
MilkShake
Ruelle du Flon 4. A cocktail and brunch bar in the Flon with a queer following. 360.ch listed a drag brunch there in October 2024. Good for a drink before a party.
The parties
Gameboy at MAD on Sunday nights is the main gay night out in Lausanne, with extra editions before public holidays. Other queer nights move around: Querelle at Folklor Club (Place de la Riponne) a few times a year, ParaDykes for lesbians and queers at Le Romandie (next on 19 December 2026), and theme nights at Pink Beach sauna. No longer gay or closed
- Trafick (Avenue de Tivoli 22) is now a mixed swingers and BDSM club, not the gay cruise bar older guides describe.
- Bar Tabac is an ordinary beer café. Older listings called it a gay bar.
- The Rockies (Rue de Bourg 43) is a rock bar in the old 43&10 space.
- Many bars close on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday to Saturday and Sunday's Gameboy are the nights to go.
- Everything is walkable from the station, but Lausanne is steep. The M2 metro runs through the station and the Flon.
- For more choice, Geneva is 35 to 45 minutes away by train.
