Calhau Praia Hotel

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was quite disappointing. I stayed there twice, accompanied by seven friends, and the problem with the towels occurred in all the rooms: they had a very strong and unpleasant smell, appearing to be in very poor hygienic condition. In addition, the blankets in the rooms were very itchy, giving the impression that the bed linen had not been properly changed or renewed before our arrival. What bothered me most was that, even after complaining about the towels, we didn't receive even an apology or a show of concern from the hotel. We expected, at the very least, some action regarding such a basic and important situation for the hygiene and comfort of the guests. The only truly positive thing about the stay was the location, which is very good. Aside from that, unfortunately, we didn't have an experience that would make us want to return or recommend the hotel.

Great experience. The highlight is the attention given by all the staff. The receptionists and restaurant staff are excellent, but special mention goes to the waiter Francisco, what an exceptional person.

Amazing hotel! When I return to São Luís, I will definitely stay there again.

Reasonable breakfast

Large room, but very bad, completely run-down, I didn't see any signs of renovation. I do not recommend it.

I really liked the spacious room with a mirror. The cleaning service was good, but more hygiene was needed (towels weren't changed and the white face towel was darker than the bath towel and floor cloth). The breakfast is terrible, with few options, small space for a large group, and the manager was absent without providing support to the staff. The location is good for those who like the beach, but there are no supermarkets or pharmacies nearby.

Horrible breakfast, coffee tasted like soap. There aren't enough face towels for all the apartments. There aren't enough utensils for everyone, and when they run out, replenishment is slow. It opens at 6 am and everything is turned off... HORRIBLE.

Terrible! It can't possibly be a 4-star hotel. They don't clean the rooms on Sundays, there aren't enough face towels for all the rooms, the bath towels are in a deplorable state, the breakfast is weak and not replenished, and there are few staff members. It's only worth it for the location.

I spent a day there, staying overnight.

Cozy, clean, good breakfast, air conditioning and shower.

On average, it gets a 3 out of 10, let me explain: A 5 out of 10 for Francisco's service; A 1 out of 10 for the rest of the aspects and staff. Reception service is mediocre; you have to ask to be served. Dirty room. Lack of towels. The pool deck is extremely degraded, dangerous and could hurt your feet. Breakfast has decent options, but they don't replenish it. If you're lucky, you get some; if you arrive too early or too late, you'll miss out!

The hotel is completely renovated…the rooms are simple, yet comfortable…the breakfast is AMAZING!!! On the top floor, there's a pool and a restaurant…I highly recommend it…when you go to São Luís, it's the best beachfront accommodation option.
