Hyatt Place St. Paul/Downtown

I was charged again when I checked in, even though I had already paid for the reservation through Agoda. I showed the Agoda receipt and my payment history from my banking app to the staff member working on September 27 around noon. However, she told me that she couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t a manager. I then showed the same documents to the manager who was working from 4 PM to midnight on September 27. She told me that she had taken care of everything. However, when I checked out, I double-checked the bill and was surprised to find that the duplicate charge had not actually been canceled. I had to explain the situation all over again to another staff member and show all the documents once more. She told me that she had finally resolved the issue, but after going through this whole process, I honestly have difficulty trusting that the charge has actually been canceled. This experience has been extremely frustrating.

Beautiful Hotel, but Disappointing Service The hotel has excellent facilities, very spacious rooms with high ceilings, and beautiful architecture. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by some serious service issues. During my five-day stay, the internet was not working, and despite reporting the problem, the hotel staff failed to provide a solution. Another frustrating experience involved a package that was delivered to the hotel. Unfortunately, the staff could not locate it, and I never received my item. Overall, the hotel itself is beautiful and comfortable, but the level of service and attention to guests' needs was very disappointing. These issues significantly affected my experience and should be addressed.

I traveled from Baltimore, Maryland, and stayed at Hyatt Place St Paul Downtown from September 10–12, 2026. Although it was a short stay, I experienced several significant problems involving room maintenance, cleanliness, customer service, and billing. I want to recognize the blonde front desk associate, the valet attendant, the maintenance employee, and the engineering chief. They were pleasant and helpful, and I appreciated their efforts. Our first night was extremely uncomfortable because the air conditioning was not cooling the room. We initially assumed it needed time to adjust, but the room became so hot that it woke us. After we reported the issue, staff responded promptly, offered to move us, and repaired the air conditioning. We were also offered complimentary late checkout until 2 p.m. Unfortunately, I had serious cleanliness concerns. At breakfast, I observed an employee who had been cleaning the bathroom place her bare finger inside the cereal dispenser to unclog it. I did not see her wash her hands between those activities. After we requested housekeeping, powder remained on the bathroom floor, and the sink, shower, and mirrors still had visible smudges. Although the bed was made and the trash was emptied, the room did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned. On Friday night, I requested fresh sheets and explained that I would change the bed myself because it was late. The employee who answered the phone seemed uninterested in helping. When the sheets arrived, the fitted sheet was too small for our king size. I was so discouraged by the interaction that I did not call back and used the flat sheet instead. I will attach a photo of the sheet. The most frustrating part of the stay involved checkout and billing. Michelle initially told me that checkout was at noon and said she could not find a note documenting our complimentary late checkout. After I explained the situation, she told me not to worry and agreed to extend checkout until 2 p.m. Later, when I asked about the charges, she told me I would be charged a late-checkout fee. She spoke to me while looking at her computer without making eye contact, and I found her response dismissive. When I requested a manager, she told me that no one would be available until 4 p.m. and that I would have to address the matter later, even after I explained that I was returning to Maryland that day. Michelle also directed me to pay the valet attendant. The attendant explained that he did not accept payments, but he tried to assist and told us that our valet fees would be waived because of our experience. We also noticed minor damage to our SUV during the stay. We do not know how the damage occurred and are not blaming the hotel or valet service for it. The following day, I saw charges for both late checkout and valet, along with an additional $59 charge that I could not identify. When I called the manager on Monday, he said he would refund the late-checkout fee but would not provide any further adjustment, despite the valet waiver we had been promised. I found his tone condescending and felt that my concerns were dismissed. Even with explaining how awful his employee behavior was towards me The additional $59 charge remains unexplained. When I asked about it, staff could not tell me what it was for and directed me to someone else. I was transferred and told to leave a message, which I did. Six days have now passed without a return call or an explanation. I appreciate the employees who made genuine efforts to help, but the cleanliness, customer-service, and billing issues made this a disappointing stay. I would never return . I do have the name of the manager I spoke with.

It wasn’t the worst Hyatt we’ve stayed at. Neat building but entering after hours seemed challenging to some as folks tried to open a closed door instead of seeing the buzzer to ring. The room was fine though the curtains wouldn’t close and open all the way, the bedding was kind of scratchy, and the HVAC system was making some real weird noises. Maybe a different room would be better so we’d be back to try again. It’s a solid location with easy ride share pick up or walkability to nearby venues, restaurants and shops.

Keep in mind this is an older hotel. The rooms are HUGE. High ceilings, and easily the size of two standard modern hotel rooms. That's not always better, especially when you're traveling alone. It felt really big and empty. The beds were not good at all. To me, this is the most vital piece of travel. We have to function the following day, and when the night is spent trying and failing to get comfortable, one wakes up the next day very worn down. Each day I felt more tired and by the last evening, knowing I had to lay in that bed again, I could not wait to go home. There was one USB port available in the room attached to an alarm clock, which did not work. The shower water was nice and hot. Coffee was bad. Food available at the bar was good. Complimentary continental breakfast not great at all. The staff is all very friendly. But just based off the bed, I would not stay here again.

Great.\nExperience wonderful breakfast, the staff are a little overrated. And for some reason, I've never seen a pool. I know that there's one for the residents that stay on the other side but never have. I seen a pool for the hotel side.

Beautiful old building, gigantic rooms yet comfortable. The breakfast was meh, but I would stay here again for sure.
