Black Garnet Books

Inclusive and feminist. Yes please.

Lovely staff and awesome vibes

Clean and organized... but not my kind of books.

I've been buying my books from Black Garner Books for maybe a year now and they always arrive quickly and safely. My most recent order included a couple stickers that were unfortunately out of stock, but I was called and informed about the situation and couldn't be happier with the stickers they sent as replacements!! Thank you so much, Black Garnet Books!!

A fantastic bookstore dedicated to celebrating Black voices and culture. True understanding might be beyond my own lived experience, but expanding my knowledge starts here.

Black own! The only place I get books from

Absolutely loved my experience at Black Garnet Books. The space feels warm, intentional, and deeply affirming. The two women who helped me were incredibly sweet and welcoming, and you can feel the care poured into every part of the store. I left with a few beautiful books and an even fuller heart. Such a meaningful space for the community.

Great location, good on site selection, amazing staff. Reached out the minute my order arrived for pick up. Could not ask for more.

Black Garnet is the best source for BIPOC centered literature. I picked up a couple of interesting books on my visit. They can also ship books if they don't have it in stock. Great atmosphere here with comfortable chairs.

Love this place! The curation is excellent, spanning across a variety of genres for all ages. I also like how they have a section specifically dedicated to short story collections! Their classics section is excellent, too - it doesn't just have literature and prose, but also plays. The building itself is located close to the green line, nearby to other shops and restaurants, which I think makes it a really great neighborhood spot. The interior is cozy and chic, with a variety of seats. What I also love about them is their online store - visually appealing and easy to navigate. All in all, many reasons to visit and check this place out!

We spent hours in this store 🙄 A black and women owned independent bookstore, this shop had so many good titles to offer. It is carefully curated, but well-rounded and expansive. The children’s section was particularly great! My sister gathered quite the stack to purchase. We loved this store and will absolutely be back.
