The Grand Hotel in Salem

This place is very clean and has a safe parking garage. The rooms were spacious and it was conveniently located right by all the fun this today and eat in town. The only con I could say is you can hear footsteps from upstairs and people’s conversations, which I was very surprised about. If I am back in the area I would definitely stay again. Thank you

The experience was pleasant. The building is historical and does a decent job of preserving the history while updating services and amenities (carpets need replaced in some rooms) The price is high compared to chains. Originally reserved a room and made sure to ask for a rollout bed beforehand, was assured it would be available and the room was compatible. When we asked for the rollout bed after we checked in and went out for the evening, returning only for sleep. We where told our room Was IN FACT not compatible for a rollout option. We where accommodated to another room. It was not ideal to move rooms at midnight I must say. However the staff was extremely understanding and did NOT upcharge me for any inconvenience OR misunderstanding. Had we gotten the upcharge this whole review would probably look different. The pool is like most pools in Oregon, cold. The location is phenomenal but comes with the cost of not being silent. As it in a busy area with lots of things to do within walking distance. Overall we had a great experience even with the hiccup. I am also someone who prefers history over mono-corporate-culture. If you prefer the the labels and same exact experience in different places go to the chain. If you want a unique experience try The Grand Hotel in Salem. 8.75 out of 10, would recommend. Staff was welcoming and did have a level of focus that I have not seen in a while. Except the security guard who was far too focused on me. Watched me leave the hotel twice (hours apart) and was watching me like as if I was trying to sneak in AFTER watching me leave. It was very off putting and honestly confusing. Do guests need to sneak in? Im just confused by that still. I literally felt like he was about to tell me I couldn't be there. Just happened to admire the historical aspects of the building while waiting on my company. I did not look for long, since he was starring at me through the windows then came outside and started to approach me until about halfway through the entry to the building like guarding the entrance from what I felt was me even though I just walked out 2 minutes prior. Very strange person. I even tried talking to him to let him know I was just waiting and he just starred at me and did not speak. If not for him the cold pool and the hiccup with the room I would rate higher.

My experience of staying at The Grand Hotel in Salem was quite good. The hotel environment is nice, clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and cooperative. Overall the service was satisfactory. I would like to stay here again if I get a chance.

Cool building and the restaurant was convenient to have on site. Parking was super easy with free underground garage. The pool was freezing ice cold and the hot tub had a sign that said out of order, sorry for the inconvenience. The pool and hot tub were important to us and one of the reasons we booked this hotel. Just be aware the amenities advertised aren't available even though they say they are.

Great location for a wedding, fun time, nice staff, pool was out of order

They worked with us from the beginning to secure a reduced group rate, which matters when you are asking classmates to travel in from all over. The rooms are elegant, and the pool and fitness areas are top notch — several of our group used them more than they will admit to. Here is the part that tells you who you are dealing with. Late in the game we decided we needed a hospitality suite, and we gave them roughly three hours of notice. Not only did they say yes, they and the Salem Convention Center team had it set and running on time. No excuses, no negotiation, no visible strain. Just done. A special thank you to Susan, the Reservations Manager, who walked us through a number of details over many months and coordinated everything with the Convention Center staff, so the two sides ran as one. That kind of follow-through is rare, and it is the reason the weekend came off as smoothly as it did. Sixty years is a long time to wait for a reunion. The Grand Hotel made it worth the wait. I'd like to give a huge shout out and kudos to the Grand Hotel Salem front desk agent, Sabrina. She was absolutely delightful on the phone and helped me fix my error in accidently sending my amazon order to the hotel. She went above and beyond to help with a solution from the manager, was incredibly patient while navigating this process and even asked if I wanted to have my items sent to me all at once, or as they arrived to the hotel. She also provided valuable information on what was available and who I'd need to speak to about a room block for next years Ironman 70.3 Oregon race as I may have a larger group participating in 2027. To say I was anxious this morning about my ordering mistake and have someone like Sabrina make it pleasant to fix and completely eliminated my anxiety, I cannot say how much I appreciated her today. Even with my stay back in July for the race, the staff was so friendly and accommodating and quickly fixed the 2 minor issues with my room. I will absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel.

Best hotel in Salem!!!

Been staying here for years, but the bed was a bit too firm this time.

Front desk was friendly and super accommodating. Rooms are clean, bed and pillows were decently comfortable. Breakfast was good. I’d recommend staying here.
