We had a reservation for the studio side. When we arrived, the manager told us to check the room first because they have a strict no refund policy (automatically suspicious). We went to check the room and it looked like someone was staying in it (it had not been cleaned). The paint was peeled in places. In general it didn't match the pictures or description of the room we booked. It had a mini fridge I stead of a regular refrigerator. The flap to the freezer section was broken and the freezer section was so caked in ice that you couldn't put anything in there anyway. The burners for the stove were seriously dirty and looked corroded. I wouldn't have trusted to cook anything on it. It also did not have a microwave. The room also smelled strongly of smoke. It was a nonsmoking facility supposedly. We went back to the office to tell them it was NOT acceptable. When we went in, the woman at the desk was on the phone (talking about the room she tried to give us) while also arguing with a customer that he didn't have a reservation, even though he showed her the confirmation email on his phone. She hung up the phone and (ignoring the guy already at the counter) told us that there are "mechanical issues" with the room she was going to put us in, so we couldn't stay there. When we asked which room we would have, she informed us that the place was completely booked and she couldn't do anything to help us. She didn't even offer suggestions. So, an uncleaned room suddenly has mechanical issues and she just then found out about it? Housekeeping hadn't been in the room, so how did she just find out? It would seem that she knew the room was not rentable beforehand and still tried to pawn it off on us. That is way to suspicious and unprofessional. It seems, from somethin a guest said as we were leaving who overheard us complaining about the whole thing, that she had probably given away our room and was using the mechanical issues thing as a way to cover it up. The whole scenario was unprofessional.
