Anjuna Beach

Anjuna is a North Goa beach curving below low red laterite cliffs. It drew hippie travellers in the 1960s and later became known for trance parties. Today it is a mainstream tourist beach with shacks serving beer and seafood, guesthouses on the lanes behind, and the Wednesday flea market on the southern end. It is not a gay beach, but its mixed international crowd tends to be easygoing, and LGBTQ visitors rarely attract notice here. The season runs roughly November to March; outside it many shacks close and the sea gets rough during the monsoon. Keep public displays of affection low-key, as in the rest of India, and avoid swimming after drinking. Rocky sections can have strong currents.
