おネェとおばんざい bar 源 (Moto) is a small gay bar on the 4th floor of the Daiko Building in Zaimokuchō, Nakagyo Ward, central Kyoto. The name says what it does: an "onee" bar, the camp, chatty style of Japanese gay bar, combined with obanzai, Kyoto-style home cooking served in small dishes alongside drinks. Like most Japanese gay bars it is a counter-seat room where the host leads the conversation, and most of it will be in Japanese. Expect a seat charge on top of drinks. It rates 4.3 on Google from a handful of reviews. Check its Facebook page for opening days before going up.

I traveled from Kobe, but on my second visit, I felt so at home that I almost came back. The owner's thoughtfulness made me feel comfortable and at ease. It's a wonderful place I'd love to visit again and would recommend to everyone!

The proprietress, staff, and even the regulars are all wonderful. There are six seats at the counter and also tables. A comfortable bar with great attention to detail. Even newcomers are sure to enjoy themselves.

It's on the fourth floor of a multi-tenant building and in a not-so-great location (if anything, the area is not very safe). Despite its reputation as a "gay" bar, there's no interaction and the only drinks they have are from 2000 yen a glass and snacks for 1000 yen each... I wonder if the high ratings are from family or acquaintances? Not knowing what's so good about it, I quickly left.
