GENBA

GENBA is a small gay shot bar near the Iriya exit of Ueno Station in Taito-ku, in one of Tokyo's older gay bar districts. It opened in 2024 and the crowd skews younger than in many of the neighbouring bars. The shot-bar format makes it easier to walk in than at the regulars-only snacks around it. It also runs DJ and event nights. There are few reviews and no fixed hours on record, so check its X account (genba_uenotokyo) for the night's schedule. Like most bars in Ueno, it's small and fills up fast on weekends.
