Paekākāriki Holiday Park

We love the Paekakariki Holiday Park, we spent a week there in the last school holidays in our caravan with our 3 children and 1 dog and then the long weekend of Anzac weekend there with a group of 6 of our family friends, caravans kids and their dogs. after the weather we have had it was nice to be somewhere the kids can run around enjoy the bouncy pillow, play ground, eels and riding their bikes, they drew pictures all over the path with chalk and they were all super happy. Our dogs were contained to our area and did not have any altercations with other dogs. as you can see there have been a few recent reviews of 1 star for loud noise, music and people staying up way later than the holiday parks rules, I would personally like to apologie to those people effect by this as it was our group of friends that were irresponsible, we are deeply ashamed and forever sorry that your experience was ruined due to our lack of abiding by the rules so we are very sorry. The rules that were broken by us is our responsibility and shouldn't have any judgement on the Paekakariki Holiday Park as Marilyn and her team are amazing and the park is well presented and accommodating, the kids love it there are we would recommend it to anyone hence why we chose to take our friends.

Will not be back. Spent the night listening to drunk people and loud music til 1am in the morning. Other campers were affected and phoned the website number which went unanswered. When complaing to management, they advised we should have rung the bell at the office and told us we had a copy of the rules. Not much help. I was unhappy with their uncaring response and advised this only to be told as i had already given them a bad review. This was not true as i had not done one at all until now! Seems they blame the victims not the ones who were inconsiderate. SHAME ON YOU!!

Had a powered site for camper,unfortunately the group in the Block behind were playing really loud music and drinking till 1am no one of 14 caravans got any sleep calls to website number went unanswered complained in morning were meet with everyone gets copy of rules but no management of these if I could give them no sters I would better managed camps than this,will not be coming again

Reasonable priced camp ground in great location, close to beach and walking / biking trails. However amenities are pretty awful - blocked toilet for 2+ days, overflowing into bathroom area. They need a really good clean as heaps of spider webs and dead insects, NOT nice. 4 min shower is ample for females if you don't muck about. Enjoy staying here though.

Cute camping, but definitely stingy on the facilities. Kitchen have approximately 1 plate and a half for the whole camping, the knives are all extremely dull, no sharpie or tape to mark your food. Showers run on a timer of 4 minutes and you need to wait another 4 for hot water. No mirror in the bathroom. You need to pay for internet, which is so weird in 2026. Etc etc

Beautiful quiet space surrounded by trees, short easy walk to beach.

we stayed 2 night the first day our satellite wouldn't go through trees so asked if we could move and it was no problem very happy

Lovely location nice camp ground but the receptionist is unbearable to deal with. What a shame!! Like many have said, this person is so rude and just can’t be bothered talking to customers or helping with anything. So sad such a lovely place is managed/owned by this kind of person.

Family oriented good old NZ campground ⛺️ beautiful setting amongst the pohutakawas and a great place to chill. Excellent amenities and easy check in and service. Highly recommend as you trip down NZ.

We stayed in a kitchen cabin, the walls arent sound proofed and could hear so much from through them. The bathrooms need a deep clean, brick walls in womens toilet has black marks (mould), and the cubicle door has alot of finger prints on it. Also, I tried to have a shower about 8am, the water didnt warm up, it stayed tepid meaning I came out of the shower colder than when I went in - not really good enough. I understand the need for a timer - but I would have had to choose to wash my hair or body, but didn't get that option, as no hot water - couldn't even tell reception - more on that below. The whole place needs a bit of a facelift, $100 per night seemed steep for having to bring our own linen also, and no free Wifi - even a small amount!!!! Also reception doesn't open until 9.30am!!! That's absolutely ridiculous - I've stayed at many camping grounds and this is the 1st time seeing such a late opening reception. There is also a rather rude note - pretty much dont call the after hours number under any circumstances. My husband saw the owners and said they are pretty old - time to watch day time TV and hand the business onto someone who will put in the effort?? Talking to Kapiti locals, Paekak Camping ground is apparently 'good', to that I say; it used to be!! If I had no other accommodation options id come back. But I wouldn't be rushing back at all!!
