Amazing experience at Restaurant A. Food was yummy and not too rich. Very warm and genuine service from Shan. Thank you!
A truly perfect experience, full of surprises! The wine paring was amazing; I'd love to visit again! No wonder it's a two-Michelin-starred restaurant!
It was a pleasure visiting Restaurant A for the first time today, and a special thank you to Anderson Sun for their thoughtful hospitality. The menu was excellent, and the service was just right—warm and welcoming—making me feel as comfortable as dining at a friend's house!
Delicious! Highly recommended. Thank you to the humorous Anderson for making the dining atmosphere so enjoyable.
An unforgettable evening at Restaurant A — book well ahead, this is one of the best meals I've had in Taipei. From the moment you step off the elevator onto the 4th floor, the predominantly white, almost heavenly decor sets the tone — I later learned from Gladys, the restaurant's director, that it echoes Chef Alain Huang's other concept, Cloud, and is meant to keep the experience feeling calm and grounded. Even the welcome card is a work of art: an illustrated autumn botanical wreath with every ingredient on the night's menu woven into the design. The tasting menu, titled "Sensation," moves through eight canapés each built around a distinct flavor note — salty, bitter, spicy, acidic, umami, and three alcohol-paired courses. Standouts included the Bouchon, served as a playful game where you dig through a bowl of wine corks to find the actual bite; the Parmentier, a trompe-l'œil "caviar" of confit goose, potato mousse and truffle, eaten like real caviar with crispy biscuits; and the Royale, a cognac-marinated drunken chicken with the softest egg custard I've had. The main course was a showstopper: a fried egg yolk crowned with caviar, sitting in a red wine and mushroom sauce, served alongside brioche with ostrich meat and abalone. The ostrich was extraordinary — tender, almost pastrami-like, nothing like the ostrich I'd had before. I added an optional off-menu carbonara (char-grilled tagliatelle with shredded goose and a strong Parmesan sauce) that nearly stole the show, though I kept the egg yolk dish as my favorite since it's part of the actual tasting menu. The cod course (Pil Pil) deserves a special mention — the texture was unlike any fish I've had, closer to mashed potato than flaky fish, topped with crispy spiced toasted rice, and paired with frog in a way I didn't expect to love as much as I did. Every drink on the pairing menu ("Subtle") is house-made and alcohol-free-leaning — think jasmine-basil-apple, cascara with rose and rosemary, a cognac-inspired cherry-porcini "Mature," and a sparkling raspberry number that was, hands down, my favorite drink of the night. Dessert closed things out with a citrus sorbet with bird's nest and pomelo, followed by a wine-soaked lava cake with fig compote — served personally by Chef Alain, who stopped by the table himself. The evening wrapped with tea and petit fours in the restaurant's lounge, a gorgeous space showcasing their three consecutive years (2024–2026) on the Michelin Guide Taiwan. A small note: the panipuri accompanying the main course was a touch soggy rather than crisp — the only minor blemish in an otherwise flawless night. What makes this place special isn't just the food — it's details like the seasonal, chef-signed menu you take home (mine dated October 1st), genuinely warm service from Gladys and the team, and a chef who comes out to serve dessert himself. A true "Sensation." Highly recommend. Will be back.
