Les Bains-Douches
Many visitors praise Les Bains-Douches for its large hot tub, good value at €15, and as a great place to meet people with friendly staff. However, a common complaint is that the venue is dated and in need of renovation, with some reviewers noting issues with cleanliness and infrequent cleaning.

I genuinely tried to give this hotel the benefit of the doubt, but enough is enough. For $400+ a night, the level of service we experienced is completely unacceptable. After a long day of traveling, we finally arrived at the hotel only to be told our room was ready—except maintenance was still working on something inside. What should have been a quick fix turned into 40+ minutes of waiting before we could even get into our room. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. Later, our door lock stopped working, and instead of simply getting us back into our room, we were left sitting in the lobby for nearly an hour while they attempted to figure it out. As I’m writing this, it’s just shy of 10 PM and we STILL cannot get into our room. Apparently, the hotel’s solution to this complete lack of service is to offer free drinks. That might sound nice in theory, but when you’re exhausted, nauseous, and pregnant after a full day of travel, the last thing you want is a complimentary drink. I want to get into the room I paid $400+ a night for, shower, pack my bags, and go to sleep. Instead, I’m sitting in the lobby late at night, waiting for someone to figure out how to open my own hotel room. We fly out tomorrow, and I still have to shower and pack. This is absolutely ridiculous. Mistakes happen, but what makes this experience so frustrating is the complete lack of urgency and the inability to resolve a basic problem in a reasonable amount of time. At this price point, I expect significantly better service—not excuses, delays, and free drinks that do nothing to solve the actual problem. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. For $400+ a night, there are plenty of hotels where you can expect to actually get into the room you paid for and receive the level of service you’re paying for. This hotel was not worth the money, the frustration, or the aggravation.
The hotel is beautiful and the location great. However, it didn’t feel like the staff wanted to go above and beyond for any requests. We booked through Amex which includes perks like early check in, room upgrades, and late check out, all of which were denied when we asked. Perhaps it’s not the hotels fault, but we booked our anniversary stay at this hotel under the assumption at least one of these perks would be honored. Also, the TV in our room was broken, which we asked to have fixed every night we were there - nobody came to look at it or offer any updates when we followed up. No compensation or even a free drink at the bar was offered. My husband and I left feeling like we could get better service and experience at any number of hotels in the area.
We had a perfect 5 day stay in Paris and had the pleasure and the luck having selected Hotel Les Bains as our "base camp" for that purpose ! Strongly recommended ! We will be back . . . soon ;-)
I was there 30 years ago to party, and I have the pleasure of returning, but this time to sleep there! This hotel has become for me THE PLACE to stay when returning to Paris. Breathtaking decor, beautiful rooms, well-laid out and extremely comfortable. Wow-factor bedding. In short, everything is there, adding the little touch of staff that lives up to the place. This is already our 2nd stay in this place and I am already longing to return. I forgot… remember to take a dip in the pool, a real little cocoon with everything you need in water features. And then go have a drink at the bar, you will be able to taste cocktails worthy of the name. Thanks to the whole team
An exceptional hotel experience from start to finish. The staff were consistently professional, attentive, and welcoming, and the facilities were excellent. The massages were particularly impressive, and our room was exceptionally spacious and beautifully appointed. A lovely added touch was that the hotel even provided eclipse glasses, which made the experience feel especially memorable. A truly outstanding stay and thoroughly deserving of five stars.
This is an amazing Hotel that really makes your trip to Paris feel luxurious. However there are still a few little details that need to be fixed to help place it over the top.
A customer for years, it is always a pleasure to stay at Les Bains, to enjoy this unique atmosphere, superb, original and comfortable rooms, and impeccable, responsive, and pleasant service.
Les Bains is an exciting and beautiful part of the history of Paris. Today it's a high quality luxurious hotel experience. Very stylish with attention to every detail of your stay. The bar and restaurant are iconic.
The hotel room was very spacious and comfortable. The overall history and vibe of the hotel was great for guests seeking a more modern and art-inspired experience. It's in a great, walkable location. We didn't discover the nice, quaint part of Les Marais for several days, so be sure to find it as soon as you arrive.
Great stay. The staff was great. The room was great. But you couldn't change the temp. The food could improve.
I went to the establishment three times in April 2026 and had a really good time. Please don’t listen to the negative reviews. The staff were fine and the facilities weren’t bad. I liked the really really large hot tub. The price was €15 cash only. I had a good time each night and interacted with a guy from the Ukraine and later a guy from Russia, which I thought was interesting. There was a nice mix of men there, and I enjoyed the place. It seemed clean and well run. If I go back to Nice for future travel, I would definitely go there again.
The sauna is a good size; on Sunday at 4 PM, there were many people of different ages there. The price of €15 is very good. Otherwise, the experience was rather mediocre. It definitely needs a renovation. It no longer meets today's standards. There was no soap in the showers, and cleaning was infrequent. I'd go once, but never again.
This establishment features a large whirlpool, a spacious hammam, and a sauna. It has three levels with numerous treatment rooms, a dark room, and a video room with comfortable tiered seating for relaxation. While admittedly older, the establishment is very well-maintained and clean. The staff are warm, friendly, and have a great sense of humor. We visited on a weekday (Thursday) and had a very relaxing time, as the place is very popular. We will definitely return.
I was passing through Nice and visited this gay sauna. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience. The place was really dirty, with stains everywhere, a smell of urine in the steam room, and the heating was way too intense. The staff wasn't very friendly either. In short, I don't recommend it at all, especially if you're looking for a clean and pleasant place. I went as a tourist, and frankly, I won't be going back.
…one of the sauna employees is rude and aggressive. Witnessing his verbal abuse towards the Italians, I had to restrain myself from punching him. If he continues to harass customers, he'll be in trouble next time. The sauna is for relaxation, so get this guy out of here, and fast. He's unbearable, and his violence will end badly.
Actually, the sauna is good; it would just be nice if it could be open in the evenings too (at least until midnight on weekends, for example). It's a shame it closes so early, especially compared to other French cities.
I always enjoy myself here. It's probably busier in the afternoon than in the evening. Always a great place to meet people. Very friendly staff. The bathroom lacks a private shower, though.
A disappointing experience. The sauna wasn't good for me. That doesn't mean it's bad for others, it's just my opinion compared to others I've visited around the world. It was empty. Hardly any guys. The entrance fee wasn't cheap. I went after Nice Pride, on Saturday, July 12th, and it was deserted. The sauna closes at 9 pm even on Pride night, which is absurd for a city like Nice, especially in the summer with all the tourists. Nevertheless, the place was clean. It has a small pool, a sauna and a hammam, and a TV room with cushions. There are also private cabins. I went with two gay friends. They were happy, but I didn't find anyone. There were a few young people and a few older people. I didn't encounter any problems with respect there. Be aware that the establishment only accepts cash, not credit cards. The staff are good, especially the bartender.
The most popular sauna in Nice. I especially recommend it on Sunday afternoons when it's very busy. A proper darkroom for playing, with plenty of cabins. Good facilities.
Tiny. Hallways, jacuzzi, shower—everything is in total darkness... but you finally understand why when you manage to see people up close... definitely avoid it
Sauna. For. Old people, avoid dirty sauna.
In short, a great sauna that I recommend! To elaborate a bit more, the entrance fee isn't very high, and despite being spread over three floors, the place isn't that large, but it has all the amenities you'd expect: reception, changing rooms, showers, a bar, and a jacuzzi on the ground floor; a hammam, sauna, and smoking room on the first floor; a mezzanine level with cabins; and a second floor with more cabins, a cinema, and a darkroom. It's an intimate, welcoming, and clean place (the darkrooms can have some unusual odors, but nothing unexpected or too unpleasant), with well-functioning facilities. As for the clientele, it attracts all types of guys, of all ages (although I rarely saw many young people, it's still quite diverse), styles, tourists or not… It's one of the few saunas of its kind in and around Nice, and it's worth it, I recommend it 👍 Also, remember to bring your flip-flops for walking around inside. The floors/stairs can be slippery, and it's more hygienic!
I'd seen the reviews and was worried about going and ending up in a sauna full of old people, but imagine my surprise! The guys were all ages (between 19 and 50 max). I met someone and we chatted; he was 19 and had a boyfriend. But let's talk about the facilities. The sauna looks tiny when you walk in, but it was a great find because there's an extra room. The hammam is very large, but there's a slightly unpleasant smell inside. The showers are very spacious, and the supervised changing rooms are fine. The pool, which also serves as a jacuzzi, is nice. The only downside is the sand and pebbles at the bottom. On the other hand, the relaxation area has lots of cabins, but they're small for my liking. It's difficult to relax as a couple. I only saw one woman (cap, sunglasses, thong) walking around with her water bottle in hand, making comments as people passed by. I couldn't find a cold shower after a nice hot sauna. The price of €15 hasn't changed. But otherwise, I really enjoyed my afternoon.
I’ve been told it’s young guys is this true or just trying to put me off babahab
The welcome is appalling for newcomers, but charming for the twenty or so regulars; it's all about who you know. It's frequented by "princesses" of all ages who don't even know how to respond to a simple hello. The hygiene of the premises needs improvement, and there are nauseating smells. This sauna is absolutely to be avoided.
A superb experience! It was my first time, and I received a very warm welcome from the staff who really made me want to come in. The jacuzzi was still working; it's a shame the place isn't bigger. A lovely little bar with people who don't judge you. I'll definitely go back with pleasure. All the best!
The staff are very friendly, especially Lorenzo, who is welcoming, open-minded, and fantastic. The prices are affordable and the facilities are well-appointed. This place is a must-visit for any man who wants to have a good time in a respectful manner.
